Apple Watch App Reloads Forever

There is a known issue with the Apple Watch app, that causes it to be unable to get past the loading screen unless the SimpliSafe app is already open on your phone.

 

This issue should be resolved, and should no longer be an issue as of more recent versions of the SimpliSafe app for iOS.

The SimpliSafe app on Apple Watch continually shows "refreshing" unless I first open the app on my phone. Any way around this? It makes using the watch to arm or disarm useless.

That is the same assessment that I have made.   The watch app is useless without having the phone next to you.

It would be nice if Simplisafe would address this problem. I too need my IOS app open on my phone to get the watch app to respond. This is useless.

Hi all,

While the iPhone that is paired with your Apple Watch does need to be within range, it should not require the SimpliSafe app to be open on that phone. That being said, our development team is looking into this bug so that hopefully it can be addressed in a future update.

Same issue here. The app  just goes in to refresh mode. I actually called and spoke with a lady with customer service and she didn't even know there was a watch app and said she'd help me try to figure it out. As if someone that didn't even know there was an app is going to help.

She tried to find someone that had some knowledge of it but no one was available in the meantime I came across this and let her know that it sounds like even Simplisafe knows it's an issue but doesn't have a fix.

Very disappointing! I get that this is no Vivint alarm system but I sure expected more.

Still a problem. Worked for a short time after the most recent app update. After arming the house with my watch, it now does the same thing as before; either spins forever unless opening the app on my phone, or shows an incorrect status like armed when it’s not or unarmed when it’s armed. Opening the app on my phone gets it working correctly again, but that defeats the purpose of having the watch app.

Same here, only add is i dont need phone persay. I will work when i am at home connected to wifi without issue. It does not however work when i leave and am on cellular. That is where i get a refresh loop

Just tried opening the App again on my new Apple Watch, but it just continuosly refreshes.  App is up to date, base station is updated and app is open on iphone but app does not open on apple watch.

Yes - same ongoing refresh issue on iwatch.  

Please fix so not at risk of having to set items carried down outside to dig out a cellphone.

Have you tried logging out of the SimpliSafe app on your Apple Watch and logging back in? 

If that doesn't help, can you please let me know the iOS and model of your Apple Watch, the SimpliSafe app version you have installed, and send a screenshot of which screen your Apple Watch gets stuck on.

Same issue here.  App is open on the phone (though not the current screen).  Watch sticks on refresh.  I have to get the phone out, poull up the Simplisafe screen and disarm from there.  I get a notification.  Then about 30 seconds later I get a second notification that I disarmed remotely from the watch.  So the watch request eventually processes.

It seems that the app on your Apple Watch is trying to connect with your system. I would try logging out of the SimpliSafe app on your watch and then logging back in to see if that solves the problem.

If that doesn't help, please let me know the iOS and model of your Apple Watch, the SimpliSafe app version you have installed, and send a screenshot of which screen your Apple Watch gets stuck on.

I would try logging out of the SimpliSafe app on your Apple Watch and back in to see if that helps. If it does not, can you please let me know the iOS model of your watch, the version of the SimpliSafe app you have installed, and send a screenshot of the screen your watch freezes on.

@islandgrump​ This issue should have been resolved a while back with a past app update. If you haven't tried this already, I would recommend logging out of the SimpliSafe app on your Apple Watch and then logging back in again.

And if you continue to run into this issue, could you please let me know your current iOS version, as well as your SimpliSafe app version?
