Smart Thermostat

So, I have an idea for SimpliSafe! Kind of like Ecobee and Google Nest, SimpliSafe should have its own Smart Thermostat! 

A feature it should have is sort of like Ecobee's. It would be cool if we were able to see video feed on the Thermostat screen (if you have the cameras).

I know I could just buy an Ecobee or Google Nest thermostat and call it a day, but It would be nice if all my SimpliSafe products were connected.

I hope you consider my idea!

So have you found a smart thermostat that connects to the SimpliSafe system?

@davi445​ It's a closed system. I don't think any outside non Simplisafe device connects easily to it. If at all.

There's a wildcat home assistant SS integration, but if a person's running HA on their own, then they probably don't really have a need for this system much or any other system for that matter.

@davi445​ SimpliSafe uses its own closed system so we can keep the system locked down and secure, but that also means that the system cannot integrate devices from other companies. If we release our own smart thermostat, we will provide an update in this thread!

Couldn't agree more with this post.  A smart thermostat would be a great addition to the SS product line up.  SS's focus on the 'emergency response piece' is right on.  However, you should also be looking at how you can have more 'home share' of a customer. There is a risk that customers move away to a competitor with a product line up that is more encompassing. Like many products before you, security cameras and sensors are (or will) become a commodity with little differentiation. Increase the share of the customers living environment! For instance, we have also added the GE Cync light bulbs in our house...why shouldn't I be able to manage those through one app on my phone? I love your product.  Give me a reason to buy more!

Sadly, I don’t want to wait for an indefinite amount a time (years?) so I’ll be buying an ecobee smart thermostat this week. This is a HUGE hole in the SimpliSafe lineup. I recommend SimpliSafe to anyone who asks me about security systems, but two have researched it and bought another system since there is no integrated thermostat.

I hope you fill this hole, soon, but unless you pay me to replace my ecobee, it will be too late for me.

SimpliSafe needs to develop an automatic "smart" home thermostats or provide integration to 3rd party thermostats.  I had this capability (through Rently) when our condo was rented

@pm11a You can read more about integration or IoT devices and Simplisafe in the community (and there is a lot of it) using the search tool in the community, but, in general, you are out of luck. SS is mostly a closed system, which has it good and bad points. Security is one of the good points. Again,  you can read all about it using the search tool.
