More granular control over Door Chime options

Hi! Love SimpliSafe BTW, super user friendly and excellent support!

My biggest issue with SimpliSafe is the lack of door chime options. With our "other vendor", we could set only 1 door to chime when open when the system was turned off. This is GREAT for sheds, garages, other detached buildings that we want to continue to monitor without having to arm the system and not entries that get used constantly. I rather not use secret alerts either as we get enough chats, texts, etc.

To have the base (or keypad) to simply say that the door was being opened would be awesome and only for doors we want monitored, not all or none. I would think it be simple enough? Enable Door Chime on the master menu, then go and select "Chime" on what door you want monitored in the appropriate column?

I just installed our SimpliSafe system this weekend. My wife and I were surprised to notice how much we miss the chime and spoken alert our previous system's keypad had. We originally turned that feature on because we had a toddler (who's now 11). It would be great to be able to enable spoken alerts (e.g., "Garage entry", "Front door"). We don't have smart home devices but I can see how enabling the announcement through selected devices (customizable schedules by device for quiet mode would be necessary) and also offering a remote speaker (maybe coupled with a remote doorbell chime) would be great. In our case, because the base unit is installed in an unobtrusive, out-of-the-way spot, audible alerts from the base unit are not particularly helpful.

I will second the request above. We would love an additonal chime option so I can hear the door entry chime when I'm on a different floor. Right now we can only hear the entry sensor chime when you're on the same level as the base station. We bought the additional alarm thinking it was an additional chime/notification unit also, but it is not.

I would also like to see a remote speaker device which could be installed anywhere in range of the base station. My keypad is near the front door, but I would like to be able to hear chimes and voice alerts in remote rooms.

Hi @Ivar,

We do offer an Extra Siren which sounds when an Entry Sensor is opened, your Entry or Exit Delay goes off, or an alarm is triggered. But unfortunately it does not relay the Base Station's voice prompts. You can learn more about the Extra Siren here on our website.

Like a chime notification when a door is opened, or like a SIREN!! when the alarm is tripped?

I think we all would like an add-on chime to notify us a door was opened when the alarm is off. Maybe a business that would like a notification when a customer enters and the employee that should greet them is not near the base station (pulling an order, checking on something, stocking shelves, bathroom.....). Or a multi-level/sprawling home where you cannot hear the chime in all areas.

@arlos70 The Extra Siren sounds for both. It relays the chime the Base Station makes when the system is disarmed and an Entry Sensor is opened, and it also sounds a siren when the alarm is triggered.

@emily_s I have an extra siren already purchased and installed, but it does not sound the chime when a door or window opens. (only the alarm bepping/or alarm siren) Can you tell me how to enable this?

I have 2 businesses and my home monitored with SS. I would love to have a door chime option for my systems.

Just to add support to the opening post as the thread moved away from it. I would also like the ability to control which entry sensors produce a chime. I've got sensors on all of our windows and really don't need a chime to go off when they are opened, I would however like to hear a chime if the front door opens. I've currently had to turn the chime volume to zero to avoid getting too many annoying chimes thus making the chime feature useless.
