Door open warning after a certain time

@royk57 Your request is a good one in the garage door scenario, and I am going to take this opportunity to ask, again, like many others. for Simplisafe to integrate with a major door opener company like Chamberlain, who have this feature already native in their or app, or at least, update the SS3 system to work with the already existing door sensors.

@roy57, I have two Chamberlain MyQ garage door openers, so I am covered on leaving the door open, but for over a year before that had a SS entry sensor mounted on an Etsy sourced nylon holder and would easily see if the doors were open in my SS3 system. Works great in home mode (set to instant alert and will alarm if open) but only secret alert in away mode. That is where customers need Simplisafe to step up and integrate it appropriately for garage door applications.

SS, think of the revenue oppty! Repackage entry sensors, call them garage sensors, nylon holders already exist, sell them after you update the software and make a mint!! And, added bonus: make many of your customers happy(ier)!!

Much needed for someone in our house who has a habit of not shutting doors! 

Absolutely! And what a selling feature for mothers with babies and stairs. I NEED this with my SimpliSafe system to make sure my baby gate stays closed. 

I had this on a previous system and it was a great feature, as was simply having the opening and closing of items with a motion sensor in the timeline

I was disappointed to realize that SimpliSafe doesn’t offer this, it seems like a basic feature and one that would be really useful in a home like mine with many doors constantly being opened, closed and occasionally left open. 

This is a must have feature. I don’t think the notification needs to come via text message though. I think it coming thru the SS app is more than enough.

 This was a feature in my previous system s as well and I’d find it way more helpful since the new house that I’m in and using SS in is much bigger where it helps so much more to knots what’s open and what’s closed. 

This would definitely be a very helpful addition for families with an Alzheimer’s patient

I agree that this feature is needed, and I'll give another example of its use:  we have a standing freezer in the garage. When the door is left open even a little bit the food can thaw and spoil.

Please add this feature to be notified if a door is left open for a period of time!

I agree - it would be incredibly helpful to get a notification if my door is left open!! 

Yes this is a much required feature that simplisafe should have

Why doesn’t SS have the open sensor alert for when door or window, garage door etc is left open for “X” amount of time. 

I’d like to also emphasize a need for this feature.

I could de see this being a good idea to do. Sometimes we will leave a door open noting purpose. 

This is a must have for short term rental owners! Guests who leave doors open while running the HVAC can freeze the system and cost us thousands
