Using Simplisafe abroad

Hello I'm new to simplisafe, looking at purchasing a system for my holiday home in the Caribbean.

We live in the UK. Use Ring for alarm and cameras on our property here

I would like an alarm and camera system, and considering something other than ring.  I would prefer to have a separate app for each house so when i receive a notification I have the right context in mind.

My question.  Can I buy a simplisafe system in the UK and take it to the Caribbean.  I realize it will be restricted to WIFI only. But I only want phone/app notifications and be able to playback video.

Can I subscribe to the basic monitoring to enable video storage, even with the system being abroad ?

Hi @pbeecroft, 

The SimpliSafe mobile app has an address validation feature which does not accept non-US or UK addresses, so unfortunately this would not allow you to input the address of your home in the Caribbean to set the system up.

We have a similar request living in the US, and building in the Dominican Republic!  As cell coverage is good and we will have WiFi, can Simplisafe connect to carriers such as Clario or other linked to ATT etc.?

@rugerac556​ SimpliSafe is designed to work only for our two markets - the US and the UK. You won't be able to use Monitoring Service with 24/7 dispatch, receive SMS notifications on non-US or non-UK phone numbers, nor get your Base Station connected to overseas cell carriers. You also wouldn't be able to download the SimpliSafe app or log in while you're over in DR.

If we ever expand to the Caribbean region, we'll be sure to let you know!

I f I already have simplisafe in my home but Im moving to lisbon can I use this over there if its already set up? I klnow you said the base wont connect to the carrier but can it be used over wifi?

@bono123 the system can still connect to WiFi and you can keep it up and self-monitor through that connection, but you may not be able to log into the SimpliSafe mobile app while in Lisbon.

So if it can be connected via wifi for self-monitoring in Lisbon, why can't the same self-monitoring over wifi work in the Caribbean?
