SS2 connection to a 4g network extender

My house is in a very poor signal area so I had a 3g network extender from Verizon.  They dropped support on that extender and upgraded me to a 4g extender.  So I had Simplisafe send me a 4g network card for my SS2 base station.  Simple, right?  Not so much.  After spending a half a day talking to Simplisafe and then Verizon, we gave up trying to make it work.  I put the 3g card back in the base station and it worked if I put it in the perfect spot in my house where it could pick up signal from the closest tower.  Now I see that as of January 1, 2020 I have no connection to dispatch.  I suspect Verizon may have turned off 3g signal on the tower I was communicating with.  I put the 4g card back in my base station, and I have no blinking red light, but I still have no link to dispatch.  So my question to the forum is : Does anybody have a SS2 base station with a Verizon 4g cellular card working with a Verizon 4g network extender?  It works great with cell phones, so I think it should work with the base station.  I also have considered that maybe I just have a defective 4g card in my base station.  Any suggestions would be better than what I have now, which is nothing!

There were a few reports with the new SS2 4G card, that one had to call SS to make sure it was actually activated on their end.  Please call SS back and ask for a supervisor to look into that for you.

Yeah, first need to confirm the SIM is fully activated. But, aside from that, here have been other reports of not being able to make SS bases work with 4G extenders.  No resolution I recall reading, other than not using the extender which, of course, may have other ramifications in itself.

I spent about a half a day on the phone with simplisafe and then verizon trying to find out what was wrong.  Finally gave up.  Then I had the idea to take the base and the keypad to another location where the cell signal is strong.  I threw them in the car and took them to work with me.  But it still has 'no link to dispatch' on the keypad.  So I'm convinced the 4g card they sent me doesn't work.  I'll call one last time, even though I dread waiting on hold forever, and see if I can get another 4g card.  If that doesn't work, then I'll probably just give up and cancel my service.  So my net conclusion is that the 4g extender is probably not an issue.  This 4g card doesn't work anywhere!

Did you ask if it was activated?

Beyond that (or toward getting another cellular module), try calling in the mornings when they first open (9 am ET), then pressing #1 for sales, someone should answer sooner.

I have a 2nd generation base station that was upgrade to a 4G sim card. The local verizon tower keeps going offline, so Verizon sent me a 4G extender that now has our phones working well. Like others in this tread, the base station does not link to the extender and I have no connection to the monitoring station. Is my only option an upgrade to the latest base station that has wifi capability? I really do not want to replace all the sensors!

@garygrill we can also try switching your Base Station's cell connection to a different cell provider. Please give our Support team a call at 800-548-9508 and we'll get that to you free of charge!
