Migrating from Original SimpliSafe Equipment to Latest SimpliSafe Equipment

I have just received a new Gen 3 SimpliSafe kit to replace my original SimplifeSafe system. Which piece of device should I deactivate/replace first? Base station, keypad, or sensors first? What is the sequence? Thank you.

Hi Beecacher,

So the most important piece to know is that the Gen3 system uses a completely different method of communication from Gen2. So Gen2 parts cannot work on Gen3, and vice versa. You can treat them like totally different systems  - unless the Base Stations were right next to each other (generating wireless interference), you could even run both at the same time if you wanted.

But to answer the question, just unplug and take the batteries out of the Base Station. That will shut the entire system down completely. Then it wouldn't matter which pieces you take down next - it's up to you. Personally how I've done it with my systems in the past, is that I took the sensors down first so I could lay them all out together. That way I can check back on my system list in the app, in case there was any that I missed!
