Why am I not receiving a phone call from the monitoring service when an alarm goes off?

I used to receive a phone call from the monitoring service when an alarm goes off.    For the past several months now I only receive a text when an alarm goes off.

@warnerronald It sounds like you may be referring to our Alarm Texts feature. When an alarm is triggered, you will receive a text from us asking if you would like to cancel the alarm or request dispatch of emergency services.

 

If you cancel an alarm or request dispatch before our monitoring center calls you, you will not receive a phone call from us. This is because once we receive a response to the Alarm Text, our monitoring agents will automatically begin the process of cancelling the alarm or requesting dispatch.

@simplisafe_admin​ Alarm texts notification sound on the phone is too easy to miss.   Your monitoring practices seemed to have changed.  In the past years your practice has been to call the primary contact first, and then the secondary contacts if the primary contact was not available.  (Even the third contact if necessary.     This had been very effective in the past at preventing false alarms to the police.     How do I insure that I will first receive a phone call when the alarm goes off?    Why not send a text to me at the same time?

@warnerronald Our monitoring agents will still call your Primary and Secondary Contacts during an alarm event, but if you respond to the Alarm Text first they will forgo the call and move straight to cancelling the alarm or requesting the dispatch of emergency services. 

 

If you would like to opt out of Alarm Texts, you can do so in the SimpliSafe® mobile app:

  1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet

  2. Choose My System from the navigation bar at the bottom of the app

  3. Select Alerts & Notifications

  4. Tap Alarm Triggered

  5. Scroll for SMS Alerts and toggle ON or OFF
