"System issue" leads to camera on and recording while system is off.
Last night my wife noticed that the Simplicam pointed at our front door was blinking blue and we were getting motion notifications even though the system was off.
Support chat told me that a) there was a system-wide issue, and b) they would send an email when the outage was resolved.
I didn't receive an email, so I pinged support, and they're of course missing the point and trying to help me configure my camera settings.
Enabling the camera, recording inside my home when the settings should have the shutter closed is a major breach of trust, and it's a bit disturbing that the system can fail in that direction.
SimpliSafe is a cloud service, and needs to act like one. There were no notifications of the outage, or its resolution, and there is no status page. Things stop working (I couldn't control the system from the app either), or malfunction in significant ways, and there's no visibility to the user at all.
This is unacceptable for a service at this price point.
