How to protect a shared garage
My garage was recently broken into. Thieves removed a piece of wood trim above my locked garage door, reached in with a tool and released the lock lever and then opened the unlocked garage door.
My home is a duplex. I live in the top floor and have a basic Simplisafe system in my apartment. My downstairs neighbor does not have an alarm. I would like to extend my system to our shared garage and then permit my (friendly) neighbor to arm / disarm the garage without changing the functionality in my apartment. Is this possible? What would you suggest?
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful replies.

@ministerofculture If it was just your garage, not a problem. You can get nylon holders for SS entry sensors on Etsy and then use them on your garage doors. They work great, not expensive; door hinges were my first effort, work okay but don't look as well. For home I have them set on instnat trigger to alarm, for away secret alert only due to software integration officially not there, yet.
As far as your neighbor having access, unfortuantely, don't see a solution for that but possibly another customer will.

Hi @ministerofculture ,
Unfortunately SimpliSafe is designed for a single household. So if say, you added sensors to the garage, and gave your neighbor access to arm and disarm, that would also allow them to control the rest of your system.
You could also set up a second system that you and your neighbor share. But you'd have to log out of your current account into the shared account every time you want to use it - which just isn't feasible on a day-to-day basis.
