How do you activate self-monitoring only on the app.

Hi, when you go into set up system on the app it only allows you to continue if you select one of the two monitoring plans. How do you set it up for self-monitoring? Thanks Bob

If you are in the UK you cannot receive app alerts or turn alarm on and off from the app without Pro monitoring. 

It is a complete farce. In the US they do enable self monitoring without a plan but not in the UK.

Is this still true for the UK - i.e. we don't get any app alerts without Pro monitoring? It's essential to be able to manage the system remotely - that's the only time you'd really want to have it active!

@bobmccalden​ No, this is no longer true. All of the UK's monitoring plans offer push notifications; even if you are not subscribed to a plan you will still receive push notifications for your system.

Why is it so hard to buy a service from you. I quit having mine monitored because you would not change my bill date to when I want like every other company in the world minus a few archaic behemoths. A  brand new company that does not offer that service is whack. Now I am trying to sign back up so that I can have the date I want and apparently the only way to change due dates is to quit and sign back up. Problem now is that there is no way that I can find  to sign back up without buying more equipment. Oh and off topic but you really should let people know the true time batteries stay charged on outdoor cameras, which is only a couple of months.  If you have to drag the ladder out because it is up to high then plan on doing it four to five times a year, even in winter.

@stevengraham586​ You can activate a monitoring plan at any time in the SimpliSafe mobile app. If you navigate to the three-bar menu in the top left corner > Plan & Billing > Your Plan and then select the plan that you want to subscribe to.
