Door monitoring system setup
Hello, I have an out of the box question; I would like to use the SimpliSafe system to monitor doors in a home without actually using the system as an alarm system. My stepdad has Alzheimer’s and will occasional try to leave the house through the front door and we want to use the system to get notified if a door is opened without actually having the house monitored by SimpliSafe I want to use the hardware and have sensors on the doors and the app on the phone and have secret alerts sent to the phone but don't need the system connected to monitoring for police etc. Is this possible?

@gh1967 Unfortunately, I believe the answer is no and you must pay the 9.99 self monitoring fee plan to get secret alerts. We have very good friends who have a SS3 system and the husband, unfortunately, has Alzheimer's. His wife has the chime setting set to loud and is notified if he opens a door. Also, his kids have access to the system and can access the cameras to check in from time to time. His wife has used the panic button on the key fob to call for medical resources on several occasions so you may want to consider a monitoring plan option.
As my father also had Alzheimer's, I do wish your stepdad, and the entire family, the best possible outcome. It is not easy.
Here is a link to compare plans:

To SimpliSafe Sr Mgt: Many of your customers have asked in the past for features to assist those with medical needs in a wide variety. (Strobe lights, medical services etc) and by not acting on these requests you are missing out on a large business opportunity, but more important, not providing services and features that are needed.
