Update Continues to Fail

It's been a while since I have completed a system update. I recently noticed the "gear" so I decided to try the update.

I parked the keypad right next to the base station. I tried it 6 times and each failed. I even unplugged the base station and put it right next to my wifi router with the keypad. Failed there also. I never have issues with my system.

Any ideas before I give support a call.

Thanks, Gene

You might try putting fresh batteries in your keypad(s) before attempting to install updates (sometimes the updates are so large, they will brick the keypads temporarily after the update, as in, they won't turn on or operate - the solution is after the update, take out one or all of the batteries, leave it alone for several minutes (I leave it for 20 minutes), then re-insert the batteries and the keypad should be operational again.

Beyond the batteries, failing updates aren't normal, so you should call SS and ask for a supervisor to look into it.

I'm also having the same issue. Fresh batteries, the keypad next to the base station and the base station next to the router.. I even made sure that my cellphone wasn't near by to avoid any interference. Has anybody been able to fix this issue?

@carlosarz the first post was from last year.  I just completed an update in March, no issue. Suggest you try a hard reboot, unplug the base, pull out a battery, wait a minute, put the battery back in and plug it back in, then try the update again. if you still get an error, you will have to call support.

Hi @carlosarz,

Since the ‚öô Gear icon only appears on the Keypad once the update has already downloaded to your Base Station, you don't need to worry about having it near your WiFi router during the update. That being said, we recommend resetting your Base Station as Captain11 suggested. Once you've plugged your Base Station back in and the Keypad has connected, make sure to give it a minute to finish booting up before you attempt to push through the update again.
