Offline Devices

I have 2 entry sensors that are showing as offline.  I've replaced the batteries, but they have not come back online.

How do I get them to come back online?

Have you tried to move them closer to the base station to see if there is a communication issue?
Is this a new system or an issue that has just started on a system that has been working for a while?

This is a system we have had for a few years.  One is literally directly over the base.  I've replaced the batteries which was the initial issue.  Now how do we get the base to get them online again?

I had an entry sensor that was occasionally going offline. Replaced the battery but that didn't seem to help much, if at all.

What I did was to uninstall the sensor from the system then added it back. It's been fine ever since. Doesn't really make sense to me but that's what I did and it apparently sorted out something.

That was my next step....Guess I'll do this now.

Hi all,

First we should explain that all of your sensors check in with the Base Station on a regular basis. When the Base Station doesn't hear from a given sensor for a while, that's what causes the Error message. So naturally, the way to clear the Error message is to just let the sensor check in again on its on (though removing and re-adding a sensor also works - that counts as a check-in).

Troubleshooting the error is all about figuring out why the sensor failed to check in, in the first place. Could certainly be a low battery, but the most common cause is interference - either there's a physical object like a dense wall or heavy appliance getting in the way, or another wireless device communicating in the same frequency.
In szook's case, since one of the sensors is literally over the Base Station (and assuming there's no metal or any other dense material in the way), the latter would be the more likely scenario.

Deleting and adding them back in worked fine

If it is distance or interference, is it possible to install a repeater or an extra base station?

Since the Base Station is the main hub, there can be only one per system. And unfortunately we have no component that can relay.

That being said, when there is no interference, the Base Station should have a reach of around 500ft, or even more. So we focus on just identifying those sources of interference, so we can lessen their effect.
