Integration

I expect the answer is no, but wanted to ask.

1) Will we ever have an extender for the base station to connect to product.  Tired of pay for two base stations due to poor bluetooth coverage.

2) Do we have the ability to integrate into Moen's Flo Smart Water Monitor & Shutoff, or to FlowLogic's shut off valve.  Yes would save me $500 per year in homeowners insurance.

If these continue to be no, it will make it worth the time and money to change to a secruity system that covers the house and integrates.

Thank you,

Dan

@MealDesigner We have submitted a feature request for a sensor range extender to our devs for their consideration. I'll bubble this back up to the team.

And to answer your second question, we use our own system for SimpliSafe that isn't able to integrate components from other companies. It's a closed system so we can ensure quality, and keep your whole system secure.

But we do offer our own Water Sensor that detects leaks and floods. And with a monitoring certificate, you can receive a discount on your homeowners insurance.

@emily_s As always, thank you for your reply but did want to add, water sensors are reactionary.  Integration with a water shut off valve is preventive, or at least, minimizes the damage done by a water leak.  SS has provided limited integration with August Locks and digital assistants in the past.

Chamberlain Garage Door Openers and the beforementioned Moen Flo Smart Shut Off unit are two leaders in their industries.  I am sure Simplisafe would do very well, financially and customer satisfaction wise, in integrating with these two segment dominated companies.

@emily_s  I understand.  However, I did also ask about an extender for the bluetooth almost 4 years go and at that time, it was also forwarded as a request.  Thus, I have no illusions that this will simply not happen which is why I will end up changing security providers.  There is no need to have two base stations to connect to all the doors and sensors.  Two subscriptions are just not an option anymore which is why I suspect it has never been developed since that would mean less revenue for SS.

The water sensors do give a break on the insurance, but the main shut off valve offers a much greater discount and is preventative vs. reactionary as "captian11" mentions below.

Once I change, I do have a number of door locks and sensors that I am happy to sell for low price to someone if you would like.  No need to buy a full price if you want.

@MealDesigner Both great questions, asked many times over the past 17+ years I have been a customer and, if you don't mind, I would add garage door sensors to your list.  Who knows, SS could be working on any or all of these requests, but they won't say.

And now, I would like to move on to my dead horse, so it can be flogged a bit more. @SS, MealDesigner has teed up another opportunity for you to have a product manager, director, or the random VP, to moderate a live webinar here in the community and actually provide some information on your top secret, 007 product road map.  I never get the reasons why you spent God knows what on a very nice, robust online customer community and not use many of the features it ca support. Sorry, but definitely a "duh" moment for Simplisafe, in my humble opinion.

And, yes, I remain a loyal, enthusiastic  customer.

It's not that difficult, however, it takes a desire to do so though. Tools are available.

HA runs new Live release parties all the time on YouTube where one can interact at least with developers and the founder.

Example;

https://www.youtube.com/live/_X2-encNyrA?si=CJV0AFqvBwk6Zl2s

Discord for even more communication and advertising🤦, actual forum software that works well, such as Discourse. Announcements to all. Reddit.

Live webinars? Ever heard of Zoom or Meet?

They already do some sales stuff🧐 on Facebook (Meta) & X.

Websites dedicated to just "organized" how to documentation.

They operate in the dark ages of modern communications. Intentionally?🤷

That's enough, helped beat that dead horse a little too much 🐴 🐎.😁 Waste of my time anyhow.

Lol, I'm sitting on the fence falling the other direction. Or being pushed.🤔
