How to add second keypad to SS3 system?

I looked for instructions, but they didn’t work. I have two options to add devices: “Lock” and “Other devices”. No “Keypad” option. When I try to use “Other devices”, and insert a paper clip in the keypad hole the original keypad doesn’t recognize the new keypad. It works fine for other sensors.

Hi @Eswenson,

You were almost right. You definitely should choose "Other Devices", and when it asks you to press the button on the device you want to add, just press one of the face buttons on the Keypad (say, any of the numbers, or Home/Away/Off).

SimpliSafe needs to be more thorough when it comes to adding a second keypad. The answer to this question should've been answered by "them" first. I am having the same issue - "other devices" and then it just says "Keypad Out of Range - Press any key".... It's right next to the existing base station.

@march465 If your second Keypad that you are installing is showing an out of range error, I would try taking the following steps:

  1. Press Menu on the Keypad that isn't showing this error and enter your Master PIN.
  2. Choose “Devices” and then scroll down to the Keypad showing the error. It will be identified either by the name you gave the Keypad, or by its serial number, which can be found underneath the battery cover of the Keypad.
  3. If you do not see the Keypad showing the error in your list of devices, scroll back to the top of the Devices menu and select “Add Device”, and then “Keypad”.
  4. When prompted, press and hold the red “panic” button on the top of the Keypad that is issuing the “Out of Range” error. Your Base Station should acknowledge the new device by saying “Keypad added. Now choose a name.”
