Disable keypad beeps?

I have two questions.

First, is it possible to disable the beeping noise that the keypad makes when there is an exit delay?

Second, is it possible to disable the beeping noise that the keypad makes when you press buttons?

The use case for both situations is that we have a keypad upstairs near the bedrooms and when we set the alarm at night the beeping can wake people up.

Thanks!

Hi @redwing1,

Unfortunately there isn't a volume setting for the Keypad that would allow users to silence its Exit Delay and sound when a button is pressed. We have submitted a similar request to our dev team to control the volume on the Keypad. Once we hear more from our devs we'll provide an update over in this thread.

Regarding the Exit Delay's countdown, the Exit Delay for Home Mode can be set to 0 seconds so the system arms without a countdown. That could be a potential workaround to turn off the Exit Delay's countdown.

Arming the system in Home Mode (with a zero delay) is not a viable workaround. If I leave the house early in the morning while my wife is still sleeping I must arm the system in Away Mode (with a non-zero exit/entry delay). The resulting beeping on the bedroom keypad wakes my wife.

Please, please, please prioritize this. This may seem like a small thing, but I can assure you it is not when your family is awoken because of it.

This feature was requested at least 4 years ago. Please, please, please prioritize it!

Agreed this is the issue we have with our adult child living in the home. College/work. Beeps in the middle of the night. We did find that using a remote allows him to disarm before entry and rearm. IF the app had multiple user / levels it would be best! Waiting on DEv team for either!

I desperately need this feature as well. My husband leaves for work early in the morning and the countdown beeping on the keypad wakes my sleeping infant every single day. We cannot make the exit delay zero since my husband needs time to actually exit the house. This is an extremely basic feature on every other alarm system to silence the countdown. I don’t understand why SimpliSafe has never found it a priority feature request. I wouldn’t recommend SimpliSafe for families for this very reason.

@emlfong89  use the app. turn off before exit and turn back on "home" after exit. OR buy the remote. Thats our work around for now.

I was just trying to figure out how to do this, we have a keypad in our bedroom. I let the dogs out in the morning while my wife is still sleeping. The keypad wakes her up every morning, tried mounting the keypad in the hallway. But unless we keep our door closed, it doesn't help. What can we do?!?! From what I've read, I guess nothing. There is no way to mute a keypad it seems like.

Simplisafe could you please update the keypad so we can mute it.

This is a big deal in our home and it seems like there is nothing I can do about it at the moment. I am confident that the sanity in my home will be restored once this keypad update is completed!

Brand new Simplisafe customer this week. I found this thread specifically looking for two things:

1) How do I turn off the keypad key press beeps? I am standing in front of it pressing they keys, I do not need to hear beeps to know they are being pressed. This is thoughtless user design. We should be able to turn off button press beeps. If we can, I'm unable to find out how.

2) I do not want the base station to announce that it has been turned off. It's 5am, I'm turning off the alarm, and I don't want it to wake up my family. It's already set to the lowest volume in settings. But if I turn it off entirely I may miss important announcements. This is thoughtless user design. We should have some granularity around when it makes announcements.

Unfortunately, the beeping is so loud that it keeps waking my baby up when I turn the alarm on/off.

It might feel like a small system update but I can assure you this will make a huge difference.

If you could please prioritise identifying a way to update this that would be great, especially given how expensive they are.

Thanks!

I wholeheartedly agree, disabling keypad beeps and the countdown out loud is a big deal. You can silence door senor chimes why not these options for those who want or need it.?

Same with me.  I am out to work at 5am and the peeping wakes the entire house.  My 17 year old system I replaced with SS was able to disable all beeps, now that I am looking into this, I cant believe the SS system cant do this.  Only way to arm with zero time would be through the app.

This is the worst.  I just changed to SimpliSafe from Cove because I want to go to self monitoring.  Cove has a waaayyyy better user experience.  If I knew Simplisafe was going to be this far in the dark ages of user experience I probably would have went else where.  Do you even use tour own system Simplisafe?  This is ridiculous that all you can adjust is generic volume levels.

1) keypad should not beep when set to Home and there is a countdown delay.

2) the home base should be silent when setting home.

When do you think people actually set their alarm to home, 3pm?

When the alarm is set just change the LED color to red or something obvious and silent.

Also the keypad beeps aren't even at regular intervals.  At first it's once a second, then it paused for 5 seconds, then beeps twice with another pause.  What kinda crap firmware are you running on the keypad (PS, I write firmware for a living, and regular intervals beeps is trivial if done right).

I'm wondering how you have such good reviews with so much oversight in your product.

@jfgass83  I think you can accomplish what you want by simply setting the exit delay to 0 seconds when setting it to home.  No need for any countdown if you are simply staying put.   And if you are leaving the house (but someone is still home and you want to set it to home), just set it via the app once you are outside.

In either scenario there would be no keypad beeps.

Right?  What am I missing?
