Cellular keeps initializing resulting in no notifications

I just armed my system in home mode and did not receive an app push notification of the arming event on my phone like I usually do. I immediately checked diagnostics from the keypad and it showed cell status as “init” with no IP address assigned. What can cause this “init” cellular status resulting in no alerts being sent?  I have my base station disconnected from Wi-Fi.

On a side note, when I armed the system this time I heard the full and complete voice prompts even though my system is disconnected from Wi-Fi. It appears to me that the issue with truncated voice prompts has something to do with the cellular connection.

Just wanted to add that my keypad is reporting “no link to dispatcher” and suggesting that I reset my base station by removing the batteries. I haven’t really had this issue since switching to the AT&T SIM and relocating the base station. The diagnostic screen shows a signal of -73db so I don’t think a weak signal is to blame.

Again, what would cause this?

This system hasn’t been very reliable thus far. I’m spending way too much time on it.

Hi @Boring_Joe,

The “init” cell status you are seeing means that your system is not connected to cell. The same goes for the “No Link to Dispatcher” warning - when you see this it means that cell and/or Wi-Fi are down.

Are you still seeing this “init” status on our Keypad?

@emily_s Thanks.  So what would cause the cellular connection to go down?  The init status fixed itself after a while.  I guess it finished initializing and reconnected.  But what would cause it to go down in the first place?  Like I said, the base station wasn't moved and we normally get a decent signal strength of around -75 db.

I'm starting to lose confidence in this system that it will perform during a break in.

@Boring_Joe,

Cellular connection can go down if there's an interference with your local cell tower - like if it goes down or if its service is slower.

@emily_s That's odd, then.  When the base station cell status showed init, it was like this for at least 20 minutes while one of the phones in the house that uses AT&T cellular (same as the base station) showed no signal loss.  Again, the base station was in the same location as always that gets around -75 db signal strength.

Base station lost cellular link to dispatcher again this past Saturday.  I went to the keypad and it showed the error happened 19 minutes ago.  I later did some other testing so reset the base station and it came back online.

Why does this keep happening occasionally?  We get decent signal strength of about -75 db in the location of the base station and most of the time it's fine.

@emily_s So why does this occasionally reoccur?  We have a cell phone at home on the same AT&T cellular network that the base station uses for its cellular. The base station occasionally loses its cellular connection for many minutes at a time while the cell phone does not. Does this indicate a problem with the base station?  Again, the base is always in the same location which usually has good signal strength of about -75db. Thanks.
