Previous Owner Account Deactivation

We purchased a new house & want to use the system that was left behind, including the doorbell camera which the old owner never removed from the account. I have attempted to reach out to the previous home owners to deactivate their account but they have been unresponsive. I spoke live with a SimpliSafe representative this afternoon to explain the situation and they said my only option was to get the previous homeowners to call them directly to deactivate the account (which they won't do) or I would have to purchase a brand new device and register it. This is disappointing and I'm hoping there are other options so I don't have to purchase a new system.

@jonjelinek06 Unfortunately in order to use the SimpliSafe system at your home, the previous homeowners would need to both cancel their monitoring plan and remove any cameras/Smart Locks from their system.

Is there an option to return the device I have in my possession (model SSDB3) to SimpliSafe and receive a new or used one in return? I'd hate to have to buy a brand new device and assumed there could be some sort of workaround...

I am confused.....if the account was in your name for the monitoring for SimpliSafe then it seems like you could just deactivate the account.  How can they reactivate it using the camera if it is your purchase from SimpliSafe?  Hopefully then they will give you the camera because it will do no good for them trying to activate it with it being owned by you.  Like I said I might be confused and they set up their own account already with your camera you left behind.  If that's the case then just buy another camera if you are going to use the monitoring.  If not going to use monitoring then buy any camera for cheaper.
