Outdoor cameras don't come with mount

The video for mounting an outdoor camera recommends purchasing a separate permanent mount for most applications. It comes with a magnet to mount which seems like anyone could just pull it down. I spoke with an expert agent who said most customers mount with the magnet. I'm not comfortable with that risk so the agent said to mount at a height that can't be reached. The video that the agent sent me says you should use the permanent mount which can be purchased separately. (Every time I asked a question they sent the same video- 4 times). I feel like I've been tricked.

@cchism015 The following is my experience and my opinion.

I have two outdoor cameras, one facing the front yard facing due West (Series 2) and one facing due East (Series 1)  Both are mounted on the supplied magnetic base. With winds up to 50 mph (welcome to Chicagoland) the series 1 camera has never, ever had an issue. The series 2 camera has lost power twice due to the AC power cord partially being pulled out, The solution to that? Provide some give in the power cable by pushing out through the soffit another inch and all is good.

Both are under the soffit of the first story, about 8 to 8 1/2 feet, it can't be reached without a ladder, are steady and, especially series 2, has awesome video and sound pick up is incredible.

Bottom line:  no need for the other, ugly mount. I bought one just in case and is now been collecting dust in one of my drawers for the past 2 years.

@cchism015 Many of our customers do prefer to use the magnetic mount for the Outdoor Camera so they can easily adjust the angle/position of the device if needed. You cannot get close to the camera to physically touch it without being on camera and having recorded footage, so that is a deterrent.

But yes, if you are looking for a different method of mounting the camera, or if you want to mount it at a higher height, the Permanent Mount is sold separately.
