Court of Appeals blocks FTC Click to Cancel rule.
So all unscrupulous businesses who practice negative options can continue messing with customers, can keep their retention departments etc.,
Customers just wanted a straight forward & honest, easy cancellation process.
Including one business I won't mention here.
Guess I have to call now to downgrade again.
Click to Cancel was the only reason I signed up again.
Big disappointment from court of appeals.
The courts quote;
“While we certainly do not endorse the use of unfair and deceptive practices in negative option marketing, the procedural deficiencies of the Commission’s rulemaking process are fatal here,” the court wrote.
FTC disagrees of course. Perhaps they will push it to a higher court.
Made me laugh out loud. Politics, money & lobbying at its best.

@dlspr You could also bring up the issue to your totally worthless Congress Man or Woman. That is if they know which bathroom to use.

@dlpsr I was going to post exactly like you did when I saw the news break earlier this week, but as I personally don't have a "dog in this hunt" as a southern friend of mine would say, I didn't. As you well know I am a big SS fan and have no intention of cancelling my monitoring. As far as other companies, I have many more, larger issues on why they are on my "Do not use for life list" (can't miss the opportunity to list them: ADT, Comcast, Sirius Radio, Chicago Tribune and I am sure I am forgetting a few others) but certainly concur at all of our elected officials can't walk and chew gum at the same time, regardless on what side of the aisle they are on. Click to Cancel case in point.
