Better control over notifications and doorbell recording
I realized today that, when you turn off notifications in video doorbell settings, the camera also stops recording. The setting should not be called "Notifications" if it actually means it turns off recording motion events. Give the option to do both--enable/disable recording with motion AND turn on or off notifications of these recordings.

If the Motion Events setting is still on while the Motion Notifications setting is off, the Video Doorbell should still detect and record motion.
I would try toggling this setting back on, saving the change, and then toggle it back off again to see if that helps. And if you feel comfortable doing so, commenting a screenshot of your Video Doorbell's settings page in the SimpliSafe mobile app could further help us get to the bottom of this.
