Transformer requirement for the SimpliSafe Video Doorbell
I didn't see a search option on here so I am asking this question that has probably been asked before.
Will my 16v 10va transformer work with the SimpliSafe Video Door bell pro?
Just want to have all the information before I add the video doorbell.
Thanks

I had a 16VAC/10VA transformer when I first installed my video doorbell and had lots of problems. I switched to a 16VAC/30VA (like this one from Home Depot Hampton Bay 16VAC/30VA Transformer Compatible with All Video Door Bells-HB-130-03 - The Home Depot) and some of my issues went away.

This might be a duplicate post. I have a new house with only a Cat 6 cable going to the doorbell. There is not bell/chime. Can I just wire in a 12/24vac transformer to power the unit? If someone pushed the bell button it will be a dead short in the system. What size resistor should I put in to compensate for that? Or, can I open the unit and defeat the bell button since I only need the video camera? There goes any warranty......

I bought a tri-volt transformer at HD and used the 24V/20VAC terminals. Worked like a charm.

Thanks.I ended up doing the same, though it needed an artificial load to keep it from spiking over 24.

No. You need a 30va transformer to properly power it.
