Status update

First, for some reason the plus button in the page for adding a new comment has disappeared for me. Any Browser. Samsung Android. Had to ise the ask the community thing at the bottom of the page. Only button available is chat in community. Whatever.

Anyhow!

I had the doorbells dropping today when accessing, both doorbells. Outdoor cams were not.

I clean the app cache multiple times daily. Did that. Rebooted phone, still weird.

Rebooted router and access points. A combination of all seems to have stopped the dropoffs for now. Though these models do have a tendency to drop more often.

Also while doing all this I always check if firmware might be floating around the house πŸ‘€πŸ•΅οΈ and perhaps cause connection issues.

Sure enough 1 of 5 outdoor cams is at firmware v 1.33... so that is a possiblity I guess. When that happened is beyond me.

Doorbells are still 2.6.2.171, never ever changes that I'm aware of, so not the reason there I guess. If indeed all outdoor cams are trying to update, which I can't verify until it happens.

Then that could cause or be a bandwidth hog.🀷

After, reboot, restart, phone, clear cache strangely the outdoor cams opened fairly fast on the old 1.32 firmware.

Oddly the single 1.33 outdoor cam took about 13 seconds to live view..maybe it needs to chew on 1.33 for a while and settle down. πŸ˜‚πŸ€”

Also strange and with no one to report it to, is these supposed updated wifi antennas doorbells Kurt sent a couple months ago.

They still have their bad moments, but have shown some improvement, albeit slowly.

Why I don't know.

I can for the most part open either doorbell in 3 to 5 seconds but have occasional spins and drops. And thats with a crappy connection check because I just rebooted wifi, until they settle to better connection points.

With all outdoor cams and doorbells, repeatedly opening back to back significantly lower live view speed.

Example. Typically and all of the above may degrade again, it happens, back to back live views starting on outdoor cams average 8 seconds live view, 2nd view same cam, 4 seconds, 3rd view same cam, 2 to 3 seconds. Investigate that.

With doorbells, I can bounce back and forth between the two, typically, once awake, and they will open live view fairly quickly, consistently.

I still get an occasional stuck doorbell trying to open live view. But, I'll admit it's less. I also see some improvement, in disarm where two doorbell vids are taken. They have been more consistent vs black or sorry we didn't get that video.

It's closer. Not there yet though.

There's still something even with wired doorbells that causes them to just spin on occasion. These improved antennas doorbells are also more sensitive to drop connection than the old doorbells when accessing.🀷

I'll report back here in this thread, (πŸ˜‰) lol, if things degrade. Which I currently believe it will.

I'll let things settle from the wifi reboot etc. and see if it sticks. 1.33 is already getting way better. If they stay that way for a while. I can tolerate an occasional reboot to assist performance.

PS; If you want the old doorbells back, ever, I need a shipping label. Or directions in writing to dispose or shelf them. It's beens months. I've asked before.

Well, doorbells on first open 4 and 5 seconds. Will continue testing live view, upload and detection

3 outdoor cams on first open today, 8 seconds.

2 outdoor cams on first open about 23 seconds.

Still only 1 outdoor cam on 1.33 firmware.

4 on 1.32.

Will check them again later.

I realize no one cares, but here I am like an idiot still posting.😜

Doorbells still open this evening in 4-5 seconds.

Couple outdoor 1.32 opened in a few seconds, a couple 8 seconds. One took longer. Still only one on 1.33.

I'll leave it alone for a while, quite a while.

I expect degrade as time goes by anyhow.
