New install doorbell camera smoked and smelled burned - now working
I self installed my whole Simplisafe system with very few problems, I installed the doorbell camera on existing wired doorbell power, measured 17 Volts, transformer says 16VAC 30 VA.
The doorbell camera initially let out a puff of electrical smelling smoke in the area of the large button. I figured it was fried, but a few minutes later, it is working fine?
Any thoughts on this smoke and burned smell? I'm not crazy, I'm positive it smoked and smelled burned.

I would say did the wires touch but it's very low voltage and I have even touched my wires together before accidentally and nothing happened because it's low voltage so I'm not sure what that was about but ifits working and no more smoke or smell I say you are good

Hi @bortonira,
Just to confirm, is a mechanical chime also part of your setup? The Video Doorbell Pro does require a mechanical chime, as it works as a resistor to prevent any damage to the Video Doorbell.
But if you do have a mechanical chime, you may need a Chime Connector to supply your Video Doorbell with the proper voltage. Our Support team can send one your way for free.
