Motion detection working but no notification

I just installed a simplisafe doorbell and I have both motion events and motion notification turned on. I can see it is recording events but I get no notification.

I do get push notifications via the iPhone app for events such as system arming via keypad.

I also have two simplicams that also do not notify me, although they do record. Both are set to events/notification turned on. Both have their privacy shutters open in at least some modes. Shutter is closed for off mode. Open for away mode. Closed on home mode for our den camera, open for the inside garage camera. I realized this was an issue for the cameras when a mouse in the garage triggered a recording but no notification.

When I first installed the system I had the privacy shutters open all the time in the garage and I was getting notifications whenever we went in there.

How can I get my camera notifications back?

Hm, after reading a suggestion on the forum yesterday, I deleted and reinstalled my iOS app. This morning, both the doorbell and the garage camera seem to be triggering notifications.

However, SMS notifications aren’t happening for camera events. I even tried removing and re-adding my SMS recipient. System arm/disarm notifications are sent.

@ewilen I don't think you get sms messages for camera alerts as that comes up on the app for notifications

@lance843 Thanks, maybe that is the case. SMS recipients certainly can’t do much with a camera notification. My solution was to install the app on the other person’s phone and set their number as a secondary verification for login. So now they get push notifications and they can view the cameras.

Hi @ewilen ,

@lance843 is correct. SMS and Email alerts are not available for camera notifications.

If I have this correct - you were having trouble with getting those alerts on another person's phone? You have the right solution there - to install the SimpliSafe app on their phone, so they can also get the Push Notifications.

And yes, you'd need to set up that other phone as a second contact for Multi-Factor Authentication. That way, the other person won't have to keep asking you for the confirmation code the next time they need to log in. If anyone needs help on how to do that, you can find the instructions here.

I had the same problem.  I deleted the App (IOS), re-installed, and my push notifications (for motion) started working again.

My thinking is the recent iOS updates on iPhone didn’t communicate properly with the SimpliSafe App.

All ok now.
