Doorbell 10" add-on Monitor

Simplisafe needs to respond to their customers needs,, Everyone would love to see who is at their front door without having to login to their cell phone.. Since Simplisafe has all their devices hook up seamlessly with the base station like cameras, sensors and more.. Why not have or offer a 10" Monitor Screen that also hooks up wirelessly to the base station as a stand alone or dedicated monitor, All you have to do is add the same chip that all the other Simplisafe devices have to communicate to the Base Station.. There won't be any compromised security because it is propietory to Simplisafe only...

Amen!  If I would have known that it didn’t integrate with other systems to see who is at the front door I would never have bought the system.  I know you and I aren’t the only ones who have a problem with this.  You would think they would do that for their customers after we made the investment in the system.  Maybe they will listen to their customers finally.  Fingers crossed.

Don't count on them doing the right thing for their customers.
I have had conversations with their techs and it appears that everything I said to them went in one ear and out the other. I even had the tech agreeing with me about security issues as well as the compatibility issues. Bottom line is they really don't care what the customers want!!!!

Hi @davidnketchum ,

Apologies, looks like our team missed this post.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here - you'd like to have a smart screen that functions essentially the same as the SimpliSafe app, but without having to log in?

As @captain11 says, you can set up biometric login for a much quicker experience. And once you're logged in, and continue to use the SimpliSafe app regularly, you could theoretically never need to log in again. So what you could try instead is just set up an Android tablet or iPad at your door and use it that way?

I am surprised you don't understand the need for this, so let me try and help explain.

I do not have a peephole on my front door. When someone comes to the door and I am at home, I want to be able to see who it is. I do not want to have to open the app on my phone, much less wait for the connection with the camera to load in order to see who is at the door.

More importantly, I want my kids to be able to see who is at the door before they decide whether to open it. They do not have devices on which to use the simplisafe app.

What we are all asking for is a screen that is dedicated to the camera feed/s, which we can mount either near the door, or wherever we like, which received camera feed directly from the cameras. Even if it has to go through the Simplisafe server, which is not ideal. Nobody wants to have to open an app and wait for it to load the camera feeds, just to see who is at the door!

Some people have been asking for continuous camera feeds, so the picture is always available. Others would be satisfied with motion detection-activated feeds. Some may want to mount the screen others may want it to be mobile.

The bottom line is that we all want a screen dedicated to camera feeds. We do not want to have to use our phones or tvs or any other devices to see who is at the door in real-time when we are at home.

@zeebop34 I understand the "peephole" piece. I just wanted to make sure I'm relaying the ask accurately to our dev team.

Yes, our cameras do need to link with our servers first in order for both live streams and recordings to work. Unfortunately for now, maintaining a constant feed is not feasible with our camera system.

@zeebop34 You make some great points here. For us, we might just be watching tv in the family room with our phones in another room. We might then have to pass by the windows around our front door to retrieve a phone, log in and view it. Not ideal if you don't want the person at the door to know you're home, especially solicitors. If it's a neighbor, they might be gone by the time we do all that with our phones. I found this page expecting there to be a solution other than dedicating a tablet to staying logged in. A Google AI search result suggests that others have requested a smart tv app that pops up notifications when the doorbell is rung. That would be great too.

I am also extremely interested in this item if it were availavle. I would even buy a brand new doorbell if it came with or worked with a small monitor. I don't even need continuous streaming but if it would wake when someone rang the bell that would be ideal.

User here; What it sounds like you're all or most are asking for is a POE doorbell, requires an Ethernet cable to power it and streams in real time to a tablet etc.

You'd need the doorbell and someone to run the ethernet cable and LAN devices, switches to handle POE etc. (power over ethernet)

The one I'm thinking of and almost bought 2 recently, may still buy, also does SD card 24/7 storage as well.

The reason I delayed was empty promises of improved wifi antennas in the SS doorbells. Swapped my two out, no difference or worse in some ways. Old ones are laying here, guess they don't want them back....

This SS doorbell, as designed, will never do this. My two barely work in the SS app so as it is.
