Constant night mode on indoor camera

Indoor camera never goes out of night mode. I can manually change it but as soon as I set to auto it goes back to night mode even in a sunlit room. Any ideas?

@davey_d tried resetting it. Lost wifi connection. Couldn’t get it to connect again. After 45 minutes ended up calling support. Finally got it connected to wifi again and night mode issue was gone so it just needed rest - hopefully.

My parents have the same issue and their camera repeatedly is offline multiple times per day. Frustrating.

@bassdent This might be a different issue, more related to connectivity issues. Have your parents already been working with our Support team at 800-548-9508? There's a few troubleshooting steps we could try to get the cameras to a stable connection.

Hi blueone4784,

The Auto setting means that Night Mode will activate based on the level of light in the room. So that particular room that your camera is in might actually be too dark.

But you also want to make sure that there isn't anything obstructing either the lens or the infrared lamp (the little dom under the main lens).

That’s why I said even in a sunlit room. I can open the shades and have full sunlight and camera will not go out of night mode. It works fine if I manually change it to color in settings but will not go to night mode at night. When I put it in auto it immediately goes to night mode even in the sunlit room.

Apologies, I missed that part. So if this is happening in a room with a lot of bright light, the only other environmental issue that could be happening is that the light sensor might be blocked somehow.

Do you get the same thing no matter where in the room? And we're assuming you've already checked for any other physical obstructions - including the protective cover over the lens that should be removed.

One last thing to try is a reset of the camera (if you haven't done this already). To do that, just hold the button on the top of the camera for 16 seconds. When you release, it should reboot back into setup mode, and you can set up again through the app.

If that doesn't work, we may want to replace the unit entirely. Give our Support team a call at 800-548-9508 and we can take care of it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did make sure all the film was off it. It has done it from the time I got it although it was monitoring a room that was on the dark side so I didn’t think much of it. I moved camera to a different room that is very bright so I could monitor one of my cats that was sick and that’s when I noticed no color.

I have not tried resetting it. I will try that tonight.

thanks
