Cameras without WiFi?

I have a new Simplisafe system purchased in Sept. 2022. I don't have home wifi. I ordered an inside camera and an outdoor camera - will they work without wifi? Will I get an alert notification on my cellphone if the outside camera picks up movement? Thanks.

Hi @jsobutka ,

All of our cameras do require WiFi. Unfortunately, while the built-in cellular connection in the Base Station is great for sending alarm signals, it's not strong enough to support the huge amount of data in video. So the short answer is sadly no, you'll need to have WiFi at that location for those cameras to work at all.

What if my router is working,  but my internet provider is down? Will the cameras still work? Thanks

This is a great question and I can't believe I haven't asked a variant of it before. Thanks for this.

@evilqueen2312 SimpliSafe cameras need to connect to our services through the internet to work; so even if your router is functioning the cameras will not work if your internet is down.

These companies are a joke. They tell you the system works with cellular data and all this but then after you spend 1000 plus dollars on their system you find out the only thing that works with cellular is a sensors. Sure the sensors will save me from a attempted break in if I lose power. Not. I don't care about knowing if someone breaks my window or opens my door during a power outage I care about knowing if someone is on my property even thinking about attempting it. It's absolutely insane these people don't let the cameras work on data. I'm switching to ADT or arlo. I have to do more research so I don't get scammed like simplisafe did to me. But I'm officially done with this company. I'll sell the system for penny's just to wash my hands of it and I'm going to something that would actually do some good during a power outage. Cause only thing simplisafe does is let you know when someone's already trying to get into your home like that's gonna do anything. What a joke

I would respectfully disagree. The site makes it abundantly clear you have to have wifi for the cameras to work.
