Camera Detects Motion But Will Not Record

I'm testing the motion detection for my indoor camera.  It is the wireless indoor camera.  It has a good wifi connection, detects motion ( I can see the shutter open), but will not record.   Motion detection is on.  

I'm not sure what the problem is.  Any ideas?

The motion test I did 40+ minutes ago, just showed up in my timeline.  Also, our front yard camera recordings just showed up too from walking our dogs 40 minutes ago.  It looks like Simplisafe recordings are significantly delayed.

I just tried all of mine and I have no issues, try going to settings for the simplisafe app and clear cache and force stopping the app then relaunch the app and see if that helps out, if not might need to reboot the base station by unplugging it from the bottom and take screw out and pull out one battery fpr a minute or so then put battery in with screw then plug back in and let it reboot and see if that helps.

@mdolfan thank you for reporting! Are you still experiencing this issue, or are recordings now populating in your timeline correctly?

@simplisafe_admin​ I’m not sure if the original poster is still having this issue but the issue just started on my home system. It appears to have started after I tried to check the system while out of town. (I’m not sure if this is related or not). The issue appears on two different devices when we try to check the videos. 

I should also note that we use a non typical router and fire wall that in theory could interfere with the units operation.

@LarkinToliver What cameras do you notice this behavior with? Are they Outdoor Cameras, Indoor Cameras, or the Video Doorbell Pro? 

 

When you try to look at your timeline for videos, do you see nothing has been recorded, or is there a No Video error message?

This is for our Video Doorbell Pro. I see timeline entries for motion detected but the video never loads. If I go to live view I get an error message about the camera being disconnected from the internet.

@LarkinToliver If you see that your Video Doorbell Pro recorded a motion event in your timeline, but the video isn't loading, we would want to troubleshoot your phone's internet connection. If a phone has a weak connection to the internet, it could prevent the device from loading recordings and/or livestreams. 

 

That Camera Disconnected error message indicates that the camera is not connected to Wi-Fi at the time you tried viewing a livestream. If you check out the App Error: Camera Disconnected article in the Help Center, it will take you through our general camera connectivity troubleshooting steps.
