Battery life and refunds

Has anyone actually seen 3-6 months battery life from the outdoor cameras that is being promoted? I have my cameras in locations with low traffic, set on low sensitivity and am lucky to get a week out of them. Recent updates have made it worse.

anyone been successful in getting Simplisafe to refund these? Clearly they are not ready for production. I’ve given it 6 months and am fed up

Hi @smn ,

Sorry about all the performance trouble you've been having with the Outdoor Camera. The two most recent updates for the Outdoor Camera should have had an opposite effect, since they both partly target issues that are affecting battery life.

We do have a 60 Day Money Back policy. But our Support team might still be able to try a couple of troubleshooting steps to get your cameras performing better - including perhaps replacing the units entirely if we haven't already. Please give us a call at 800-548-9508 and we'll take care of you.

The cameras should have the option to turn off monitoring when the system is "Off" This would save so much battery in high traffic areas such as a back door where there are lots of family activities.

@MikeOfTheNorth I'm happy to say that a feature to tie the Outdoor Camera's motion detection to the SimpliSafe system's armed state is in active development!

Once this feature is ready to roll out, we will provide an official update in the Outdoor Camera Motion Tied to Alarm System Armed State thread in the Community. If you press the Follow button to follow that thread, you will get notified when the feature is about to go live.
