Will Simplisafe stop working with Google Assistant?

Reported to tier 1 support today that Google assistant stopped interacting with Simplisafe. No arming, no status.check. Asked them to report it to tier 2.

Then I found this: https://www.androidpolice.com/services-stop-working-google-assistant-one-year-grace-period/

I wonder if Simplisafe upgraded their software or not.

Hi @dczubacki,

I just heard back from our devs about this. SimpliSafe uses a different method of implementation from Conversational Actions. The article you linked to mentions that Google is only removing its Conversational Actions, so this should not impact SimpliSafe's integration with Google Assistant!

@emily_s

Thanks for looking into this Emily.

Now, would you be so kind as to look into the below? Apparently Google assistant can't reach Simplisafe.  This is on multiple phones and smart speakers.

Cheers

@dczubacki I agree with Dlpsr, unlinking and relinking SimpliSafe from Google Assistant has worked for users in the past. You can do this by taking the steps below.

To unlink Google Assistant:

  1. Open the Google Assistant app

  2. Scroll down to find SimpliSafe among your devices and select it

  3. In Device settings select Unlink SimpliSafe, then confirm with Unlink

  4. In the Home Control page, find and select SimpliSafe

  5. Tap Unlink Account, then Unlink

To relink Google Assistant:

  1. Open Google Assistant, app on your smartphone or tablet
  2. Select the menu in the top left corner, then Home Control
  3. Click the '+' icon in the bottom right corner to add a device
  4. Scroll down and select SimpliSafe in the list of available devices
  5. Log in to your SimpliSafe account, and select the location to which you'd like to pair your Google Assistant.

Unlinking and re-linking worked.  Thanks for the help and I publicly apologize to Dlpsr for doubting them.  It's just that every time that I encountered this with Hue and Honeywell, it ended up being a server side issue.

Cheers

@dczubacki Interesting question that will be even more interesting when SS replies.  I am in the Amazon Echo world as far as smart devices (although Google all the way with my Pixel line of phones) and noticed that Amazon has steadily cut back on capabiliites with Echo (The "Find my phone" is no longer free and on Spotify, you can no longer skip songs on the Echo.

I am confident on Monday someone from SS will respond.
