Simplisafe App does not control doorbell camera settings

Changing motion detection settings in the app for the Video Doorbell Camera does not have any effect on the function of the camera. I've set the sensitivity to low and blocked every zone on the camera through the app and still received notifications every 5 minutes for cars driving by my house. The only way to change the motion sensitivity is through the desktop website and you can only change the general sensitivity. You cannot block areas on the camera or control day and night sensitivities separately.

Hi @bush24527,

This is very interesting, thank you for bringing this to our attention! I have forwarded your case to our engineering team so they can take a look into this.

I posted this several weeks ago.  I have the opposite problem.  I believe this started with an update that was applied in May 2024.

Doorbell Camera-Reduced video sensitivity

I feed homeless cats at my front door and keep track of them with my doorbell cam.  Yes, I know.  It's not what the device was designed for but since 2018 it has been doing a fine job of picking up the cats as they come into view.  At the end of April the camera sensitivity was reduced.  I ensured that the app was set for max sensitivity for both daylight and nighttime and that "All motion" was selected.  No change there.   I made sure there was nothing obstructing the camera view lie dirt, dust, etc.  All ok.  I removed the camera from the app and then reinstalled.  No change.  Camera was still not as sensitive as it was for the previous 6 years.  I contacted Simplisafe (Ticket # 1480182) and followed their troubleshooting directions.  No change.  They sent me a new Doorbell cam.  I installed it and still no change.  I have reset the cameras with the button on back and also removed and reinstalled the app.  No change.  I called Tech support a few minutes ago and after a long discussion was told that customers had complained that the camera was too sensitive.  I'm wondering if they turned down their settings to compensate.  Anyway, it seems that Simplisafe pushed out a change to the doorbell cam to desensitize it.  If that is true then I am not happy with that change.  Can someone from Simplisafe reach out to me so that we can discuss this further????  Bruce Sheridan, Jacksonville, FL.
