Sensor Device remains in offline status in the Simplisafe app after replacing a dead battery.

if a device battery goes dead. After replacing the dead battery the system reports that the sensor was restored, YET the Simplisafe app STILL has the device in offline mode. The only apparent means to recover online status for the device is to delete and reinstall (Add) it into the system devices again. There ought to be a way for the app to rescan devices and show online (working) status again following a device battery replacement.

@strauk When replacing the battery in a sensor it may take up to 24 hours for the error message to clear. But to bypass that time frame you can either remove the sensor from your system and add it back, as you mentioned. Or you can put your system into Test Mode and test that sensor.

Seems way to complicated a process plus the risk of causing an emergency and courtesy call from the monitoring center over a device battery replacement is non-sense. Please consider modifying the application to perform a device rescan to verify all devices reporting online.

I have a sensor and magnet that’s given me problems for a while. False activations galore.

This particular sensor has a warning symbol on the keyboard. I go in and it says call tech support. Tech says change the battery and I do. Then push button on sensor it flashes blue. Shut and open the door and the base station doesn’t pick it up although the sensor lights flash when door is opened and shut so contact with magnet is good to go.

All other sensors are functioning when activated and base station calls them out as it should.

So no battery issues, lights on sensor flash when it makes contact with magnet and when button is pushed, but base station is not picking this one up.

What is the problem?

Thanks

Mark

@zmancolombia If the Entry Sensor's LED light flashes when you press its button, this sounds like an issue with its connection to the Base Station rather than a battery issue.

We'd first want to investigate the placement of the Entry Sensor. Is the door that it's on made of metal? We do not recommend placing the Entry Sensor directly on a metal surface, as that can weaken its connection to the Base Station. If the sensor is on metal, try adding a buffer between it and the door. We recommend using a second layer of adhesive, or use tape to secure a piece of thin cardboard or velcro between the sensor and the door.

But if the Entry Sensor is not on a metal door, we would then want to troubleshoot the distance between it and the Base Station for range or interference. How far away is the Base Station from the Entry Sensor? Are there any thick walls/chimneys or heavy appliances directly in between their path? Try moving the Base Station closer to the Entry Sensor and reduce any barriers between the two devices to help strengthen their connection.
