Outside Cameras recording and motion sensor off

I hear you! This feature has been requested before, and we've submitted it to our engineers. If/when development is in progress, we'll provide an update over in this thread.

In the meantime, you can enable Snooze Notifications for this camera when you know you will be outside on your porch and don't want to receive motion notifications. You can learn more about this feature in this Help Center article!

@emily_s​ the outside motion detection should be off when the system is off.  Had I known this wasn’t how they worked I would have thought twice about buying them.  

@mrfeebs​ the Outdoor Camera was initially designed to be always-on. But yes, we're hearing from plenty of our customers that tying it to the armed state of the system is in high demand. Be sure to chime in on this thread so we can add your voice, and let our engineering team know just how much we want it! And of course keep an eye on that thread for future updates.

I have a wireless battery operated camera and video recording system from another company installed on my house now. Their software interface is difficult to use and the equipment is obsolete now. SO, I was excited to buy two SimpliSafe outdoor cameras. After install and setup, I was disappointed to learn that there is NO way to set up a schedule to turn the camera On or Off. These cameras are monitoring my back yard, so they send Notice and grab a video all day long, quite annoying. Should I use the return policy for the cameras or wait until engineers update the software. Seems software update comes very slowly so................. As others have suggested/requested, tying these outdoor cameras to the Armed State would be GREAT.   

@davey_d​ I'd like to see this basic feature as well. Based on the orientation of the camera and my sliding glass door, my 3 dogs trip the camera and initiate a recording at least 30 times every morning. I've snoozed the notifications, but can still see the camera engaging. 

I was planning on purchasing 2  outdoor cameras but after reading this thread, I will wait until the engineers re-design the camera so it turns off when the system is off/ in the at home mode. Bummer.

@joe_grebla​ The Outdoor Camera was designed to be active at all times; but a feature request to tie its motion detection to the system's armed state has been sent to our devs. Once we hear more from them, we'll let everyone know in this thread.

Is there any progress on this? I just bought a Simplisafe security package and if I can't turn the outdoor cameras when at home, I will return the system and go with someone else.  

@emily_s​ I have had my system for a very short time if this isn't fix soon I will end service and recommend via social media that everyone stay far away from simpli safe

I too, would like to be able to turn the outdoor cameras off. I think I will return them. This has been a theme for a while, yet no progress seems to be made.

@dmcamnnp​ I was looking at the history about making the upgrade to the cameras they have said it is in the works sense 2021?

The postings with being able to turn off the cameras and clicking a button to delete multiple recordings with a simple step has been going on for years.  I bought into a Simplisafe alarm after reading all the good reviews about the “in home” equipment. I had Arlo cameras outside and when one stopped working I decided to replace all of them with Simplisafe cameras. Thought I would have all the same basic features but I was wrong. My fault for not finding these posts earlier before purchasing the cameras. I don’t want 50+ recordings of me washing the car or cutting grass without having to individual close each camera. All I hear is “This feature is currently in development”.  It’s time that Simplisafe updates their system. Very disappointing.

@heidiholub​ we've got great news. The resolution you mention is currently in development and getting closer to launching. We'll keep you updated if you follow this thread.

I feel like they're ignoring us!  This seems like it would be easy enough to do since the indoor cameras already have this capability.
