Outside Cameras recording and motion sensor off
It cannot happen that every time I am in my yard the cameras have to be recording and using the internet, nor can it be that I have to manually disable the motion sensor for each camera or disable notifications every time I leave my garage or my yard or walk around etc..
They have to create a way to disable the cameras if the alarm is off, to work only on demand or some way so that this is not so frustrating and boring. Please fix this soon..........

Hi all,
I'm seeing quite a few new replies to this thread. Based on overwhelming user feedback, Outdoor Camera Tied to Outdoor Motion is already in active development! Be sure to comment on that thread to let our dev team know you're excited about it, and to get notified when there's news.

Agree, I mounted one on my back porch where I'd like to turn off when home. We use the porch alone and wish I can just arm it when we turn on system to away mode.

OMG - Can't believe this has been a highly requested and logical feature for so many years and nothing has changed. Please reinforce the utility of a feature like that to product management. I too wouldn't have bought the system if I'd understood this limitation.

I installed my SimpliSafe system this week and installed the camera yesterday. I searched the app and couldn't find a setting to deactivate the camera. I want to deactivate it when the alarm is off just like the other components in the system (motion sensors and entry sensors).
I don't want the outdoor camera running while the alarm is set to off. I called customer support with hopes that this has been solved by now. The customer support lady told me that there is no way to deactivate the camera when the alarm is off. I consider this a major flaw, which makes it unusable. Simply safe should give the customer the option to configure it the way the customer wants it. I'll be returning the 2 cameras that I purchased.
I hope this change comes through soon.

Just bought an outdoor camera for our backyard. I wish I had seen this post before the purchase. I am going to return it until they get this corrected.

I just set up my new SimpliSafe system only to discover that the outdoor cameras do not turn off when the system is turned off. Having them always on and constantly detecting motion and recording is very annoying. I set up one on my back deck and it's a barrage of alerts and recordings - while the system is turned off. This has to be an engineering oversight. SimpliSafe needs to fix this flaw asap.

Please tell me the feature to turn off motion sensor on outdoor cameras is in the works. Snoozing isn't something I want to be doing all day when I want the system off. How is this not feature to begin with?

Yes ability to turn on and off outside cameras is a must. Should have option to manually turn off cameras as well as an option to have cameras turn on or off depending on armed mode....home, away or off. Essentially copy settings like the indoor cameras offer. Please update this feature.

These cameras die easily they should be electric not batteries it’s hard for us to be climbing up all the time, the sales agent never said they were batteries the first week they all died as the workmen movement killed them all
when we leave the house we have to charge them
the cold climate kills them
what should we do, I just switched and love them but regrets the battery cameras

I wish I had known that you cannot turn off the outside cameras before I put them up. This is a GIANT pain to have the alerts going off all the time, not to mention as it warms up and we are outside more, it will get worse. I have them set to detect people only but nope, they still pick up the dogs, etc. I see a resolution has been in the works for a while now which I don't understand because you have the technology for your indoor cameras. Pulling these batteries and recharging them isn't ideal and with them going off so often, it will only increase the need to do this. Nobody wants to drag a ladder out every couple weeks to charge batteries. Please tell me they are getting close!

Yup, just figure this out. Have had my system for a while and it's worked well but I had other cameras for the outside of the house. But the package kist I bought cane with the outdoor camera so I threw it up in the backyard. Nope, too many notifications with no way to turn it off. I hope they fix this soon, I see the last update was a couple weeks ago.

Knowing something about the high cost of cloud storage, I must say I'm completely baffled that you cannot provide a simple on/off button that allows me to turn off/on all my cameras at once! When I know that I will be working in a camera zone, I normally go to MY SYSTEM, Camera Settings and then disable motion detection for each camera...when I want to turn them back on, I must retrace those steps a single camera at a time. Fix this and save SimpliSafe money! Now, If I'm missing something that already does this - please let me know.
