You cannot arm or disarm your system using the iPhone's widget, it does need to be done in the app itself. Currently, the widget only allows you to view a livestream of your cameras.
@emily_s Widget support for SimpliSafe® on iOS is unavailable at this time. 13 days ago on this site! Am I missing something? You can’t view cameras on the widget page!
@davidasudak I connected with our internal teams on this, and they confirmed that there is a working widget for iOS devices that takes you to a livestream of your cameras. You can add it on your device by taking the following steps:
Swipe right on your device's home screen
At the bottom of the widget screen, tap Edit
At the bottom of the widget screen, tap Customize
Tap the green plus icon next to the SimpliSafe Cameras widget to add it to your widget home screen
Tap Done on the upper right corner of your screen

You cannot add the SimpliSafe widget to your iPhone by just pressing and holding the device's screen, the only way to find it is by taking the steps listed above.
But if you did follow those steps, could you please let me know the model of your iPhone? As this may be something we need to bring to our app team.

We really need a widget like this. With iOS 17 making widgets interactive it would be a big convenience

This doesn’t work with iOS 18 with an iPhone 14 Plus.
Step 1: you can swipe right
Step 2: edit button is now at top left
Step 3: customize is now for icon size and color; as well as screen brightness
Under “add widget” there are no SimpliSafe widgets of any sort.
Your instructions need to be properly updated.
