Integrating Nest Protect Smoke/CO2 Detectors

I have existing Nest Protect Smoke/CO2 detectors in my home.  Is there a way that I can tie these into my SimpliSafe system so the fire department can be called if a fire is detected?

@mbates888 unfortunately, the short answer is no.

@captain11 Is this still the case? If so, are there any plans to add integration with Nest smoke detectors in the future?

Hi @tonymyles,

SimpliSafe uses its own system that isn’t able to integrate components from other companies. It’s a closed system so that we can ensure quality, and keep the whole system truly secure.

@tonymyles Here we are two years later since I sent that reply and there still is no integration, and doubt, it will ever be coming. Please note, I am not a Simplisafe associate, a customer like you, so this is only my opinion. You will have to reach out directly to Simplisafe for an official reply, but I think the reply above from SS still stands.

Since its still apparently a no here.

There are other options.

It's my understanding some Nest works with Google Home (I looked in the Home app, Nest is in there), maybe Alexa🤷 and some other hardware/software.

You can buy third party monitoring for about $10 per month. DIY on setup. Probably relies on your WiFi to function all around. No Cellular backup unless you set it up.

I don't use either Home or Alexa much for transparency. I do use other hardware/software and my own local voice Assist controller a little. Very little.

Consider Nest hardware end of life. 7 to 10 years.
