Adding another phone and person

I need to be able to provide a SimpliSafe dashboard to another person. I have given them a pin, made them the primary contact. And they have downloaded the app to their phone. They created an account, and the app then wanted to setup a new system. We just want her to connect to the current system. BTW this is a business location and she will be a new tenant. Thanks for any help. I'm a new user.

@gpawscott I am a residenttial customer of 9+ years and would make 2 suggestions. 1. call SS. They now have a separate business division with a dedicated business dashboard. I don't know if it will meet your requirements but may be the best way to go.  The 2nd is same as the first, as you are probably going to have to wait days to get a reply here.

Hi gpawscott,

As Captain11 mentions, we do have a slightly different interface that's useful for businesses who are managing dozens of locations. But even those are designed with only a single login. Currently, there is no way for someone else logged in under their own username and password to access your account.

For tenant situations, we recommend canceling the service on your account, which frees up the system to activate under the tenant's account. According to the system, the tenant effectively becomes the 'owner'. So you won't have control over their system (and if there are any cameras, you won't be able to view). But the tenant won't be able to view your payment info, or access any other systems that you might have active.

Thanks for both responses. Just to be clear, I don't want anyone else to access my account info. Just the ability to arm and disarm the system through their phone. Currently the only way they can arm or disarm is through the keypad. If that's a limit on the system, too bad. I would think you should be able to give others, say family members, the ability to arm/disarm through their personal  Android or iPhone.

gpawscott,

It's somewhat all or nothing, I'm afraid. Other logins cannot be given access to your account at all, even just the arm/disarm functions.
So when families are sharing the same account and everyone needs access to arm/disarm through the all, they just log in using the same username and password, giving them access to the entire account. Which of course we wouldn't recommend for a landlord/tenant relationship.

An alternate would be to get your tenant a Keyfob, so they can still arm and disarm from outside.

@davey_d

So what is the procedure/steps to add the application to my wife's cell phone ( and not get prompted to establish a new and separate system?)

@jjmcgee55 After your wife downloads the SimpliSafe mobile app and launches it on her smartphone, she should tap the "Sign In" button. This will prompt her to log in using your account's credentials.

We would also recommend setting up Multi-Factor Authentication. With this enabled, you can register your wife's phone number on your account. This way, whenever she goes to log in, a confirmation code will be sent to her phone. For more details, check out the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for SimpliSafe Accounts article in out Help Center.

Thanks Johnny. I appreciate the response, looks like a key fob may be the best solution.I'll consider this matter closed  thanks to all that responded...

Related question. I combined my home and business solutions onto one account recently, but that means my husband lost his app login. Is it true that spouses have to share one username and password to be able to operate the system?

@cbus_buckeye You are correct, at this time the SimpliSafe app is only capable of single-user logins - so you and your husband would have to share your login credentials to access your systems. The development for multi-user accounts is nearing the finish line, though! We're expecting to release this feature this upcoming spring. Once it's ready to roll out, we will provide an update over in this thread.
