Temporarily Suspend Camera Motion Sensor

I want to suspend the camera motion sensor like a ring doorbell where you can suspend the detection and recording of video for a certain amount of time.

Why doesn't SimpliSafe give this as an option on the Dashboard where you can easily enable and disable the video sensor?

@gordon314 Not quite the same but you can "suspend" notifications on the cameras for 30 minutes or 60 minutes now. When you get a push notification from the camera you can select either option. There is a request in that is under development to match camera motion behavior to system states (Off, Home and Away)

Hi @gordon314,

Captain11 is spot on! We do have a Snooze Notifications feature that allows you to pause receiving motion notifications for your cameras for a set amount of time. However, snoozing notifications will not stop the camera from recording.

Out devs are also actively working on a feature that will allow you to tie the camera's motion detection to your system's armed state, so when you system is in Off Mode the camera will not record. When this feature is ready to roll out, we will provide an update over in this thread in the Community. Be sure to follow that thread to be notified when the feature is ready to go live!

Good grief. This has been "promised" for years. "Our innovation team is working on it." Next move, SimpliSafe will be history for us. Bean counters and buyouts/takeovers are, unfortunately, counting on retention despite failing to address issues.

Shame on you, SimpliSafe. Must not be enough perceived monetary loss yet to force action that would provide basic features (as are available with competitors to SS.)

Urgh.

@lauraparallax Umm Laura.  This has been available on the outdoor camera (original version) for like 3 weeks now.  You can set motion detection based on armed stated:  off, home or away.   So now when your system is off it will not record or send notifications if you don't want it to.

Check your camera settings under "camera behavior".   Then post back and let us know if you feel a little bad for posting in haste!
