Sensor Not Responding in a Detached Garage

Hello!  How do I disable notifications for "Entry Sensor xxx is not responding"?  I have a few sensors in a detached garage, and every few days (usually in the middle of the night) I will get that message, followed some time later by a notification "Sensor restored: Your Entry Sensor xxx at yyyy is now responding normally".  While the detached garage is not as important as the house (so I'm not going to expend any effort improving the connection), the sensors work most of the time and are useful, so I'd rather not disable them completely.  I'd also rather not disable all notifications, but if that's the only way, I guess I'll have to.

How do I disable the notification "Sensor error: An Entry Sensor xxx is not responding"?  I get this notification several times a week, usually in the middle of the night, followed a little later by a notification "Sensor restored: Your Entry Sensor xxx at yyy is now responding normally".  The sensors that do this are located in a detached garage, which is less important than the house, but still useful, so I'd rather not disable the sensors completely.  (But I'm not going to spend any effort trying to improve the proprietary SimpliSafe connection out to the detached garage, it's useful enough as it is.  Unless there is an easy way to hook up a second base station into the system to extend the signal range?  I have a second base station that I'm not using, and I have good WiFi coverage in the detached garage.)

Hi @miltonhathaway,

Unfortunately, short of just removing those sensors from your system, the only way is to address whatever the issue is that is causing communication to fail. There are two main causes of interference that can prevent sensor signals from reaching the Base Station:

One is Wireless Interference, when there's another wireless signal that is competing for the same airspace. Since the sensors use a low frequency signal, you're looking for simpler devices, like wireless garage door openers, or wireless weather stations. You may want to keep those devices away from your SimpliSafe components, or better yet, change their frequency to a different range.

The other one is physical interference, caused by dense objects that are literally getting in the way of the signal. If your garage has metallic or brick walls, then it's possible that the signal may never perform well. But if it's wood or plastic, it might help to just move the Base Station to the same side of the house.

You'll want this

But read the comments for a shorter wire solution that works better than the main article.

Thanks for the pointer to instructables - I might try that.
