Recessed door swings open through the recess

One of our exterior doors is recessed, and the frame is 4-5". The door opens in, through that 4-5" frame, so placing the sensor anywhere on the frame would mean the door couldn't open (it hits the sensor). Are there any workarounds? If I put the sensor on the trim of the frame, and the other piece on the door, they would pass each other as the door opened if opened fully. I'm not sure if that's safe enough or if it would work properly.

Get a button magnet from Amazon. Install the button magnet on door frame. Then install the entry sensor on the door.

Is this supported yet?  I just bought this system and went to install it and found it doesn't work on my most vunerable door.

@mabato Depending on the configuration of your door, you may benefit from a slim magnet. Our team can ship those out to you, or you can purchase one at any time from the link here.

Hello, Not sure if anyone is monitoring this thread still but I just received my security equipment and I have the exact same issue. My front door opens inward and the door jam is about 5-6" wide. There is only about a 1/3-1/2" gap as the door is opening so I cannot put a sensor on the top or side of the door jam. In other words, no matter where I place the 2nd part of the sensor on the door, the closest I can attach the other piece is on the molding inside my house which goes around the door jam. Which is about 5-6" from the sensor that goes on the door. I've attached a picture. Suggestions?

As seen above, search Amazon for button magnets of appropriate size.

Check if SS still has the slim magnet mentioned above. May be free. Used to be about, 1.10"H x 0.39"W x 0.20"L

Or if you own the home, remove the magnet from the Simplisafe plastic holder and if any good at woodwork and chiseling, imbed it into the door frame appropriately to trigger the sensor mounted on the door. A little white paint will cover it up.

Or if the gap between door and frame allows, remove magnet and use double stick tape to stick it to the frame, sensor on door. Sample pic of coin magnet from the web.
