Outdoor Use???? Does not work in Extreme conditions

Hello! I'm a current Simplisafe user --- now just using the cameras. I used to have/use the lock as well but it posed several problems for me.

I used it for an outside gate & have only been using it for 6 months. It seems when it became hotter, a red peg inside it gets broken & therefore does not allow for the lock to move {opening or closing}. This was extremely problematic as I was using it for an AirBNB property & have had guests locked out. I was sent a new peg but in 2 days, it was broken again. I went ahead & just bought a different brand & got that installed. I paid for the handyman to install, reinstall the Simplisafe several times & now , the new lock & have spent several hundred dollars. And money as well for the lock that doesn't work.

I'm letting you know that the system does not work for outside use.

Hi Maureen,

It's worth noting that the Smart Lock wasn't designed for this specific use case as an entry point to an outdoor gate. The Smart Lock was designed so that the interior facing component isn't subjected to the elements, such as weather and specifically high temperatures.

If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Simply safe lock does not work in winters too, even if it is connected to main doors. A lot of us are having the same issue and we all think the battery on the external kaypad, that cannot be changed becomes inoperable in low temperatures. Now need to find a brand that works is low temperatures

@srileshrajagopalan The Smart Lock has a temperature threshold of 14° F-140° F, and its PIN Pad has a threshold of -4° F-140° F.

The batteries in the PIN Pad can be replaced. To replace the batteries:

  1. Press the pinhole key that came with the Smart Lock in the pinhole located at the bottom of the PIN Pad. If you no longer have the pinhole key, a SIM Card removal tool, paperclip, or earring will also work.
  2. Once the pinhole has been pressed, the top of the PIN Pad will pop off, revealing its batteries.
  3. Once the batteries have been replaced, press the PIN Pad top back on until it clicks into place.

@Pama0226 Only sold for use in the US and UK, you can use it anywhere but don't expect support or monitoring availability if you do. Siren will go off, arm, disarm etc.
