No Longer Offering Slim Magnets?

I recently replaced my front entry door. The SS sensor and or magnet are too large to mount on the inside door frame and have door clearance to open/close. I thought I read in another thread that there is a slim magnet available. I contacted SS and they didn't seem to know about this. Can someone tell me if I have a misunderstanding?

If there is a slim magnet and/or sensor, would you share the part or model that I may reference when I contact SS? I can't use the standard sensor magnet on this door. FYI - the door is deeply inset about 4-5 inches. So, I cannot mount the magnet on the door and the sensor on the door casing because they are too far apart. The system shows the front entry door as being always open.

Thanks.
Jerry

Hi all,

Slim Magnets can replace the regular magnet piece for your Entry Sensor, and can be used for tighter spaces. It measures 1.10"H x 0.39"W x 0.20"L.

If you're interested, reach out to our Support team!!

To my knowledge, they still sell the slim magnets.  I don't know the model number, but you have to tell the rep there is a difference between the system's regular sized magnets, and the SLIM magnets.  The dimensions for the slim magnets are as follows:

1.10" x 0.39" x 0.20"

Make sure you tell them the dimensions.  Most of the reps aren't aware of the slim magnets, and usually, people attempt to order them via phone and the rep sends the regular sized magnet.  If a rep on the phone still doesn't know what you're talking about, ask for a senior supervisor who does.

Thank you coltmaster1. That is true. I use "slim" in the sku search on the internal order page and it shows up "Extra Magnet for Entry Sensor - Slim".
You can call and ask us to search for "slim".

^ Thanks for that, just wish SS could put the slim magnets on the sensors order page :)

or remove the magnet from the basic sensor, attach it to your moulding with some 3M HD two sided mounting tape and paint it to match your moulding color. I did that for three doors...Yes, they still have the slim magnets but you need a CS person who knows what they are doing to finally get the correct ones sent to you. It took me two times to finally get the correct ones for use on my windows.

I likewise have one recessed door that will not clear the regular magnet.

I just got off the phone with "Thomas" at Simplisafe and he knew exactly what I was looking for.

The model number for the slim magnets is "MAG-SLIM" and they are still selling them. He shipped a couple of them off to me. They are 1/4" thick (including the adhesive pad) and easily clear the recessed door that I have.

(They arrived today so I edited my original post.)

You can use any magnets, they don't need to be from SimpliSafe. My home had a previous wired system and I removed and used them on my Simplisafe system with zero problems

If you continue to have problems and not being able to get what you want, you might try kjmagnetics.com for magnets. The two models below should work just fine with some good quality double-side adhesive on the back. Just make sure you have your magnetic poles in the right direction before adding the adhesive. This would work great for double hung windows.

Models: BX081 or BX081-N52

I bought a recessed magnet from another company. Drilled a hole in the door frame and tapped it in.  So far seems to work fine with the simplisafe sensor.

I replaced all of my magnets with these from Amazon and they work great.  You need to put two end-to-end for the right magnetic field:

I'm planning to create some sort of small plastic cover for them.  But a small piece of 3M command strip behind it and it works great.

I discovered you can just take the regular SimpliSafe sensor and split it apart to get to the magnet, then stick that to the door frame with some 3M tape. I have no idea why they made that thing so huge.
