Expectations when entry device is triggered
I'm just starting with my Simpisafe setup, and so far have only added 1 entry device and a keypad. I've got it setup so I hear the audible chime when the entry device is opened. However, I'm a bit surprised that it seems the only way to discover which device was opened is to use the app to look up the status of each device. There is nothing displayed on the Key Pad to indicate the status of devices. I would expect it to show the status of any triggered device, in a scrolling list if needed. Am I missing something, or is this just how it works.
...and another feature I would have liked to have seen but didn't expect to is for the audible chime to also announce the name of the opened entry sensor. Maybe a future feature.
Also surprised that I'm not getting any notifications on my phone when the entry sensor is opened (this is while in "Home" mode). I thought I had notifications all turned on in the app and in the iOS System setting, but haven't seen a notification yet.
Lastly, the audible chime is only from the base station. I would have expected the keypad to also chime, but it doesn't.
Update: I just noticed that if I have the system in Off mode, there is a little indicator on the right side of the keypad screen that indicates that there are one or more open sensors, and clicking on the right arrow shows you which ones. However, it does not do this if the system is armed in Home mode.

@xyzzy Correct, whenever an Entry Sensor is open, the Keypad will display that on the screen when the system is in Off Mode. But you can go to the Device Settings page in the SimpliSafe mobile app at any time to see the status of your Entry Sensors.
There is the Entry Sensor Alert setting which, when enabled, allows the Base Station to say the name of an Entry Sensor when opened. But as Lance843 mentioned, the Base Station will only announce the Entry Sensor's name if it is named with one of our pre-selected options. The Base Station cannot announce custom names. But please note that this feature is only available to those subscribed to either our Pro Plus, Pro, Core, and Self-Monitoring with Camera Recordings monitoring plans.
The SimpliSafe system does not send notifications whenever an Entry Sensor is opened. If you have Secret Alerts enabled for the Entry Sensor, you will receive a discrete notification whenever that sensor is opened. But it's also important to note that if a sensor set to Secret Alert has been tripped, it will not trigger your system's alarm.
The Base Station and Wireless Siren will chime when an Entry Sensor has been opened, but the Keypad does not. However, if an Entry Sensor is opened and then triggers an alarm, the system's Entry Delay will chime through the Keypad.

There is an option to have each sensor say the name of the sensors when they are open, for instance front door entry sensor open although I wished it did not say entry sensor open as I already know that but in settings under devices you can go to front door and you can have the option to have just the beep or sensor announcement but keep in mind if it is a custom name you made it will not announce it, it will just say entry sensor open. Hope this helps.

I've removed the custom name for the sensor and changed it to the pre-existing "Master BR". The only time it seems to say its name is if the sensor is already open at the time I arm the alarm (switch from Off to Home or Away). It then says "Warning Master Bedroom entry sensor open". I can see that being useful, but it's not really what I'm looking for. I want the announcement every time an entry sensor is opened, even when not armed. I also want to be able to easily see what sensors are open when in Home or Away mode. Right now I need to run the app and bring up the Device Setting page to see what is open. With the keypad I have to switch to Off mode to see device status.

He is hearing the warning when arming with something open. One time warning. No reminders.
Op will have to search here for the issues related to iOS. It's a needle in haystack to search this forum too.
I'm Android and self monitoring. Entry sensor opened sensor announcements still work, even though it shouldn't. I guess until the next base firmware update wipes it. Maybe. I could care less anyhow.
I silenced the whole dang thing. No beeps, no voice, no nothing. Siren, thats it.
Arm & disarm, redundant backup.
I setup Android phone automations to disarm it in the early morning, so she doesn't set it off accidentally.π
My home grown security & automation system announces it all in TTS and then some. Rather nerve grating actually. π¬ Of course I set it up and programmed it.π€ So....lol
And sends me a notification too, a searchable timeline of everything that happens all day, every day with every device, camera and sensor paired to it for 30 days or more if I want. Necessary evil I guess. π Reminders that stuffs open etc etc.
There is no timeline of which SS sensors were opened or closed. Devices and app home page, that's it. TTBOMK.
Keypad, I don't use that much, unless forced to with an update. Which are automatic now of I remember correctly. We'll see. Lol
It's a closed system, allows Alexa and Google Assistant to arm verbally or check if armed, no Siri. Apple watch app, maybe?
If it's new and just installed and in test mode with monitoring, only Simplisafe can tell you if all features, which are not very many frankly, work or not. Simpli-lacking features.
If paid monitoring, renaming the sensor, & saved to base, try refreshing that page, should allow the base to say, Entry sensor, Master BR opened or something along those lines. May have to refresh. I only look at the app home page when arming, if it says all ok, I'm good to go. Of course, sometimes I check later, auto arming phone automation.π
On the home screen of the app it will show if a sensor is opened in Off, maybe battery issues, etc. but you have to click it to see more info, and that stuff may be polled anyhow and may not reflect immediate change, at least on an Android. Especially battery data.
Paid gets you scheduled arming, but can walk on & override manual arming, or used to. Kinda ignorant programming IMHO.
