Cats set off motion sensors...Soultion?

I've moved sensors to the ceiling and put Senors on "pet mode" doesn't work, we've had 2 false alarms while we've been out. Weve lost confidence in the motion sensors, is there another sensor option?

Thanks!

Hi @bilsue85,

If your cats are still setting off your Motion Sensors, despite turning Pet Mode on and mounting the sensors on the ceiling, we recommend moving the sensors to a different location. If your cats could still get very close to the sensors by walking or jumping on furniture, that could cause false alarms.

Are you certain that your cats are triggering the false alarms? The Motion Sensor looks for sources of heat moving around an area. If something within the sensor's field of vision could cause a sudden change of temperature - like heating vents or direct sunlight hitting the sensor - that could trigger a false alarm as well.

To learn more, see the Motion Sensor Gen 2 False Alarms article in the Help Center.

Huh, I didn't think about that!  I put the sensors in places I suspected intruders but that's also where tables and counters are!  So let me move them to places without  elevated spaces.

Thanks!

@bilsue85 My daughter and son-in-law have two cats and protect a two story house with no motion sensors at all. Entry sensors for doors and specific windows with easy access, with glass break sensors for the rest.
