Which Version of the SimpliSafe® System Do I Have?
Updated
SimpliSafe® has two primary versions of its products; the Original SimpliSafe® and the Gen 3 SimpliSafe®. The Gen 3 SimpliSafe® System was released in January 2018.
Gen 3 SimpliSafe®:
The Gen 3 SimpliSafe® System has a Base Station and Keypad as core components.
The Base Station is a long, cylindrical cone with a flat top. It is approximately 8.25 inches tall and about 4 inches at its widest point. There is a circular light that runs around the base of the device. The sides of the Base Station taper upwards to the top, where the speaker grill can be found.
The Keypad is 6.25 inches tall, 3 inches wide, and 0.87 inches deep. It has a touchscreen and 3 circular buttons below it that read “Off, Home, Away” in that order. Below the system status buttons are numbered buttons, along with the menu button.
Original SimpliSafe®:
The Original SimpliSafe® has a Base Station and a Keypad as core components. This system was sold before January 2018.
The Base Station is approximately 10 inches tall, with the base being 4 inches wide and the cone being 3 inches wide. It has a small indent right above the bottom of the unit. From there, the cone tapers upward at a mostly straight angle.
The Keypad from the Original SimpliSafe® System is 6.5 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide, and 1 inch deep. It has a small display screen, and then 3 oblong buttons underneath it that read, “Off, Away, Home” in that order. The Away button in the center is highlighted in blue to differentiate it from the other buttons at a glance. Below the three system status buttons are numbered buttons.
