Your SimpliSafe® Motion Sensor can be customized and tailored to your specific needs. You can enable or disable the sensor from triggering an alarm in Home and Away Mode, turn on Instant Trigger to have the sensor trigger an alarm the moment it is tripped, and change the sensitivity of the sensor to Low, Medium, or High.

By default, Motion Sensors will only trigger an alarm when your system is armed in Away Mode. Out of the box, the setting to trigger an alarm when your system is armed in Home Mode or Off Mode, and Instant Trigger, will be off by default. If you choose to enable Instant Trigger, this will result in the alarm instantly sounding when tripped while the system is armed (with no entry delay). 

The Motion Sensor’s sensitivity will be set to Medium by default, but this can be adjusted using the sensor’s sensitivity switch. To adjust the sensor’s sensitivity, slide it off its mounting bracket and move the switch above the battery to the left for Low sensitivity, or to the right for High sensitivity. Please note that the sensitivity switch is only available for Gen 1 Motion Sensors. If you have a Gen 2 Motion Sensor, your device will not have this switch. Follow the instructions below to customize your Motion Sensors using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, SimpliSafe® Web App, or Keypad.

SimpliSafe® Mobile App:

1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App and navigate to the “My System” gear on the bottom of the screen.

2. Select “Device Settings”.

3. Choose the Motion Sensor you wish to customize.

1. Here, you can turn Instant Trigger on or off, and change the Motion Sensor’s alarm settings for Off, Home, and Away Mode.

4. Repeat steps 2-3 for every Motion Sensor you wish to customize.

SimpliSafe® Web App:

1. Log into your SimpliSafe account at webapp.simplisafe.com.

2. On the left-hand side of the screen, click “Devices”.

3. Select the Motion Sensor you wish to customize.

4. Repeat step 3 for every Motion Sensor you wish to customize.

SimpliSafe® Keypad:

1. Press Menu and enter your Master PIN.

2. Scroll up to “Devices”.

3. Select the Motion Sensor you wish to customize.

1. Here, you can turn Instant Trigger on or off, and change the Motion Sensor’s alarm settings for Off, Home, and Away Mode.

4. Repeat step 3 for every Motion Sensor you wish to customize.
