Replacing My Base Station and Transfer Service to a New Base Station

There may be a point where you will need to transfer your system and service to a new or different Base Station, such as replacing a faulty Base Station or transferring to a new Base Station when you move or upgrade your system.

Upgrading from Gen 2 to Gen 3 SimpliSafe?

Before Getting Started

To complete this process, you’ll need the following items available:

  • A Phillips head screwdriver

  • All Keypads paired to your system

  • Your phone

  • Optional: A computer or tablet, if you would prefer to not switch between instructions and the SimpliSafe app on your phone

You will also need to complete the following steps prior to getting started:

  1. Unpair any Smart Locks, Motion Sensor Gen 2s, or cameras in use by this system

    1. To unpair a Smart Lock:

      1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet

      2. Navigate to My System at the bottom of the screen

      3. Choose Device Settings

      4. Select your Smart Lock

      5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select X Remove Device

      6. Repeat this step for each Smart Lock connected to your system

    2. To unpair a Motion Sensor Gen 2:

      1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet

      2. Navigate to My System at the bottom of the screen

      3. Choose Device Settings

      4. Select your Motion Sensor

      5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select X Remove Device

      6. Repeat this step for each Motion Sensor Gen 2 you have on your system

    3. To unpair a camera: 

      1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet

      2. Navigate to My System at the bottom of the screen

      3. Choose Camera Settings

      4. Select your camera

      5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select X Remove Device

      6. Repeat this step for every camera you have on your system

  2. Disarm your system by setting its status to OFF
