Thumbnail Does Not Populate for Videos on the Cameras Tab

There is an ongoing issue for Android devices that is preventing thumbnails from being generated within the SimpliSafe® Mobile App.

Our team is investigating this issue and working on a solution.

When you’re on the Cameras tab in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, you’ll see a preview of the livestream for your camera. This preview is called a thumbnail, and it’s generated in the final few seconds of the last livestream that you initiated on that device.

Thumbnails are not stored, so if you log out of the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, the thumbnails may appear blank upon logging back in. 

Additionally, if you only briefly livestream for 1-2 seconds before closing the stream, this is not enough time for the thumbnail to be generated. You’ll need to stream for at least 5 seconds before closing to ensure a preview thumbnail will show up.

NOTE: Camera recordings triggered by motion events do not affect thumbnails, only live streaming will generate a new thumbnail image for previews on the Cameras tab.
