Hi @pamiller89,
Has anything changed with the placement of your camera or the Base Station? Once the Outdoor Camera detects motion at night and begins to record, the Spotlight should turn on as well.
It may help to toggle the Spotlight setting off/on in your SimpliSafe mobile app, as well as reset the camera using the steps listed out in this Help Center article. If those two steps do not help, I would then recommend moving the Base Station a little closer to your camera.

I am having this same problem with one of my two outdoor cameras. There is a 9 sec delay before the spotlight comes on after a motion event. It records at first motion, just no light until 9 secs.. Any updates on this problem? I do have a call in to tech support to try a few things, but it looks like this may be a camera problem after seeing this post.. Thought?

I have this same issue with two cameras. The nighttime use of the camera is no good as long as this is happening. Whatever set off the camera will likely be gone by the time the spotlight comes on.
Please give an update as to what’s happening with this and when we can expect a resolution.

All my outdoor cameras are on solar or the power cord and have no problems but my one that is running on nothing but battery does this exact same thing at night, camera will come on but it will take about 10 seconds for the light come on. Reset does not help and it has perfect signal and base station is the closet to that camera.

We have this same issue and spent over an hour on the phone with simpli safe going through all the steps: deleting the cameras adding them back….. They determined they needed to be replaced. Just received 4 new cameras, put them up last night and they went off in the middle of the night recording for 8 seconds before the spotlight comes on, so of course what ever set it off is gone before you can see anything! So unless ALL your cameras are screwed up there is another issue. We are very disappointed in simpli safe. This isn’t the first problem with the cameras and we have only had the service for 1 1/2 years. Not to mention the faulty smoke detector which triggered a fire dept response when we were away and the lack of notification sound choice. We have had sooo many issues!

@emily_s didn't work. Still a 9 second lag for the infrared to kick in once the camera wakes up. Which sucks beacuse we had a break-in nearby and he walked thru my yard twice because my neighbors Arlo cameras caught him going thru his yard and into mine. Both times he was out of range from my camera before night vision kicked in, so my video was of no use to police. And my camera would actually have been a better quality video if it was working properly.

My outdoor camera takes 9 seconds to switch on the night mode vision. When I watch a video the camera is on because I can hear the outside noise, but a full 9 seconds pass before it clicks into night vision where I can actually SEE anything on the video. Even when I have it in spotlight mode for nighttime.

Experiencing the EXACT same thing. This is disappointing because someone looked through our package deliveries the other day and the spotlight came on way too late to illuminate their face on camera. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

I had the same problem started in November about three months ago. In fact, I’m the first one who started this conversation. SimpliSafe replaced my camera I sent back the old one. The new one was fine until last night it started doing the same thing. No spotlight for 10 seconds. SimpliSafe can’t even fix it with a new camera. Might be time to find a new service because I’m not getting what I’m paying for.

Emily, this has been going on since last November when I first stated this problem how is it that these engineers have not figured this out yet? My daughter just called me who has the same service and theirs has been fine for a year and tonight it started with her camera with a nine second delay.
I think it may be time to downgrade the service since we’re paying for the service and it’s not working correctly

Just to let everyone know I have an email from a higher up guy at simplisafe and he said it is designed to do that now with the new pre roll that is on the cameras, it will always have a pre roll and be recording then the camera will activate and then the light will come on. Yes I don't like it either as at night the pre roll is great but by the time something happens its done and over with by the time the light comes on. Just wanted to let everyone know what I found out from one of the big guys at simplisafe.
